Overrated/Underrated......

Well, I know this is kinda corny, but I'm bored so figured I would create this thread. Me and my boys used to play a game (not really a game, but an activity to pass the time when we were bored) when we were in high school. We called it the overrated/underrated game. One of us would state something (it could an item, movie, person, sport.... anything) and say whether we thought it was overrated or underrated. The next person would state whether they agree or disagree and then they would do the same thing. Like I said, it's a little corny but it got us through some of those boring days when it was too cold to play bball or football outside.

Anyway, I got up with some of my old friends the other day because the Cincy/Florida game wasn't even worth watching and I must say we actually had fun. Figured I would bring it to OS.

So I'll go first......

Overrated: American Idol
I can't freaking stand that show. Don't understand how my mom and sister get so hyped up for it every year. Simon and Randy are both annoying as crap and the whole thing just seems played out.

Underrated: Hockey
I've never watched an entire hockey game until this year. I went to a couple of minor league games and in person, it's a lot more exciting than football and basketball in my opinion. I'm slowly becoming a regular at Norfolk Admirals games.

For the OP: I agree American Idol is overrated I watched the first 2 or 3 seasons and now its just too much. I only watch the beginning now for the horrible singers and even that has gotten old. I could careless who wins anymore.

I also agree Hockey is underrated. I underrate it myself. I love going to hockey games but in Cincinnati there isnt any NHL teams only semi-pro. And during the season I'm mostly into football and basketball and then baseball in the spring. I wish I followed it more.

I definitely agree with you on Megan Fox. I've never understood the infatuation with her. I mean, she's ok, but that's it in my opinion.

Zooey Deschanel... ehhh, I can see that. I do think she's prettier than Fox.

Why the hell would I care what you're doing all day? Maybe its because I haven't signed up and tried it but it just seems stupid to me.

Underrated: Cocoa Puffs
Definitely doesn't get the credit it deserves. I just ran through a whole box this weekend like it was a bag of chips or something.

Twitter: Very overrated I've never created one and don't care what a celebrity or joe blow is doing for dinner tonight. Have no idea how it blew up the way it did.

Cocoa Puffs: Gotta disagree with you here I don't like them at all, I always thought they were too crunchy if that makes since.

Overrated: GTA IV. Not even close to being as fun as San Andreas was. Beautiful game but got stale after a while

Underrated: Saints Row 2. This is what GTA use to be. A game that doesn't care about its image. You can do so much stuff in this game its ridiculous.

Reno 911 is one of my favorite shows; I watched the movie this morning before church. Never played SR. I'm not a big fan of cereal that changes the color of my milk. Hockey sucks and I refuse to acknowledge it as a sport.

Overrated: The popularity of celebrities (if this makes sense): music artists, movie stars, athletes, etc. Everything from the media blowing everything out of proportion to Twitter.

Underrated: I'll have to come back to this one.

Kind of agree about Idol, I don't really watch it but I love when it's on because I have that night free due to the girlfriend being completely addicted to it (although when I do watch it with her I find myself judging the contestants thought for thought with Simon, it's hilarious. I say exactly how I feel about a contestant and he says the same thing about that contestant word for word minutes later. I feel you Simon)

GTA IV was my favorite as well. That's the first one on ps2 right? In New York? San Andreas sucked and Vice City is between San Andreas and GTA IV

Agree with Legend about Talladega Nights. Disagree about Avatar for the simple reason that I haven't seen it nor will I ever watch a movie like that. It just looks dorky and something that my skateboard riding weird rock band listening to neighbor would go see, matter of fact I've overheard him singing its praises. I'm a jock, I like to think of myself as a pretty cool guy. Who am I kidding? I'm the ish.

Reno 911 sucks. I just don't find it funny.

I gotta disagree with you on the NFL and the NBA sting. Actually, let me take that back. I kinda feel you on the NBA, but I love me some NFL.

I would have disagreed with you on college hoops regular season being underrated in the past, but lately I've found myself watching a lot of games and enjoying them. Plus I have been going to a lot of local games too. Already been to an Old Dominion game, Norfolk State (my alma mater) game and plan to go a William and Mary Tribe within the next couple of weeks.

Overrated: Any all star game
I normally find myself bored with them. NBA, NFL, High School football all american game. Don't really like any of them. I enjoy the McDonalds All American game sometimes but its nothing I get too excited about.

Underrated: Aqua Teen Hunger Force
What can I say. I love that show but pretty much all my friends hate it.

I disagree w/ the All star games being overrated. Especially the MLB allstar game which is must see every year. The best against the best is what pro sports are all about, right? I don't think the NFL game is overrated because I don't think anyone has it rated highly to begin w/.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a show that everyone who likes it widely overrates, b/c the humor is so niche.

Overrated- Parity
I love seeing great teams, and great players play w/ one another. I don't want to see a talent like Jarome Iginla buried w/o another talented offensive player, or LeBron have to carry 4 corpses every night. So what if some teams suck for a while, get your organization in order, and good things follow.

Underrated- The BCS
We get to see a national champion every year, we have a meaningful regular season, and get to have a fun debate about the merits of each team every year (and the debate actually mean something). So what if we have some controversy each year, the Bowl systems lets hundreds of young student athletes go home champions (of their respective bowls), while playoffs make it very clear that there is only one champion.

I agree with the Overrated, but I would much rather see a playoff type system to be implented into CFB.

I agree with social networking being overrated. My biggest concern with meeting people in cyberspace is you have no way of knowing if they are really the person they claim to be or if they're just putting on an act. In otherwords, you can't judge character over the internet for the most part.

Don't really know what to say about OS being underrated. It's a great site.

I have to agree there, I deleted my facebook and myspace for the sake I just got bored with it, and really sit down and think how stupid it really is. Especially, when someone would update their status that they were in love, and then 1 week later I hate you, I hate you, you cheated on me for the last time, lol it actually makes me laugh.

Reality Shows- Way overrated, except Jershey Shore, that's hilarious and entertaining.

OS is just awesome

Agree I hate reality shows now that we have a billion of them. I like Jersey Shore because its funny but I stay away from the rest.

And OS is underrated I think because its a great site yet I know no one other then myself who is on it.

Underrated: Texas Longhorns in the BCS "championship" game. Everyone is picking Alabama but I'm going with Texas.
