There are a lot of claims. Claims are not evidence and video isnt even close to impervious to scrutiny in this, the era of video editing expertise.

If someone could PROVE the existence of the supernatural, they would win a god damned Nobel Prize.

    That trophy is still available.

EDIT: Demonstrability is repeatable and able to withstand attempts to prove it wrong.

My mom saw a UFO when she was a child. She knew what she saw and would not lie about it. That's extraterrestrial and not paranormal, but the point is some people don't need evidence to understand belief or certainty of something. It took me forever to hear a girl fart for the first time, but I wasn't caught by surprised when I first heard one do it.

Obvious you never had sisters lol.

On the subject, i believe in all of it. Ghost, aliens, pyramids were made by aliens and we are probably descendants of an alien race, down to almost everything in Ancient Aliens.

Just because something can't be proven to exist doesn't mean that it definitely doesn't exist. It merely means we may not yet have the scientific ability to prove its existence or we haven't been doing the right kind of observations/analyses to prove them. And while some of the claims of paranormal activity and UFO may in fact be hoaxes (and have been proven as such in some cases), there are still plenty of documented happenings that simply cannot be explainend by science.

A lot of that is getting into fringe science, but the "descended from an alien race" does hint at the Panspermia hypothesis. This hypothesis basically states that the first life on Earth in the form of microbes or at least the building blocks needed to create life was delivered by comets. There are even some hypotheses that the first life in the Solar System evolved on Mars and that Earth was seeded by meteorites that were blasted off of Mars by ancient cataclysmic impacts.

The notion that Humans are actually descended from an alien race that colonized Earth a long time ago is fairly easy to disprove as humans have the same genetics and biochemistry as all other animals and their evolutionary history can be traced both morphologically and molecularly. An alien race, even if appearing humanoid, would almost certainly have a biochemistry so vastly different from anything on Earth that it would be obvious.

I don't believe the pyramid conspiracy.

I believe it's basically what it appears to be. If you have enough people working in cruel conditions and long hours for most if not their entire life doing nothing but this one thing, those pyramids will get built.

And I dont believe people have ever seen actual alien ships before. Although what they have seen are actual UFOs, that is, they are unidentified flying objects, but more or less special aircrafts like ones we only ever see in movies.

And aliens dont have to be these 3 feet tall green guys, they could technically just be some 2 inch big lifeform that came to earth from a comet or something.

Re: Any paranormal things you believe in?

I’m not saying the paranormal doesn’t exist. It very well might.

I just decided to stop wasting the one life i know im going to have chasing after the invisible or wishing upon any stars.

I’m open to having my mind changed, but Ive let go of many beliefs over the last few years and learned how to investigate claims and use critical thinking to expose logical fallacies and blah blah blah.

                But thats just me.

I do hypothesize that there is likely intelligent life elsewhere in the Universe and I suppose I do that without a lot of evidence. But...when you look at the ridiculously absurd size of the Universe, it seems a fair bet.

But even that wouldnt be supernatural anyways...just something unnatural to our known environment.

I’m comfortable remaining agnostic about most things because the Truth is quite hard to come by these days in almost every way.

Re: Any paranormal things you believe in?

As for UFO's, it was fairly well explained as early as post #11 in this thread.

                  Definition of UFO
                  :unidentified flying object.
If I go out tonight and look at the sky and see an "object" that seems to be "flying" and I can't identify what it is then that ladies and gentlemen is a UFO.

Let me state it plainly: I have seen UFO's.

It might be a regular flying jet in the horizon, it might be a meteorite, it might a visual trick that the natural light is playing on me. It might be a lot of things. It might be, it probably is nothing that can't be explained.

I think that has been fairly well established throughout history. That isn't a good thing.

Re: Any paranormal things you believe in?

If you go on the UFO sub-reddit pages, it's like a who's who of UFO nut jobs.

Over the late winter and early spring it was almost a daily occurrence that people would post about thinking Venus was a UFO. During that time it was the brightest it's been in a while. One of the issues is people posting pictures or video of it at full digital zoom. This causes a large circle with a hole in the middle and a little pac-man mouth. This happens with any point of light. Yet people will argue till they are out of breath that the pics and vids show an alien spaceship.

There are also a lot of pics and vids of the ISS posted there. And when you tell them it's the ISS they refuse to believe it. So many people instantly go to alien spaceship on there before using Occam's Razor to rule that out. In 99% of the posts you can find a rational explanation.

Trust me, I want to believe. I look at all the pics and vids. And I want to say yep, that might be an alien spacecraft. But the vast majority of UFO's can be easily explained.

But then again, we have the Nimitz incident and a couple of other Navy pilot videos of some crazy things in the air. Mainly the so called "tic-tac" UFO. Or I should say, UAP as the government likes to call them. They recently admitted that they don't know what they are. So that's the stuff that really interests me. Along with some of the more famous and less explainable incidents such as the Rendlesham Forest incident, or the Kecksburg PA crash. And can't forget about the Phoenix lights.

I have no doubt we are not alone in the universe. I study astronomy, and learning about the different types of stars, and which ones are most hospitable for life to be on their planets is really fun. When you crunch the numbers, just in the Milky Way alone, it comes out to be around as little as 40 billion, to 100 billion rocky Earth-like planets than could potentially hold liquid water on their surface and be at temps that are exactly, or close to the average temps here on Earth. In other words, if any one of those planets had an atmosphere similar to Earth, where oxygen is about 20% and carbon dioxide is less than 1%, you may be able to walk on that planet without any protection, and breathe the air just fine. Pretty cool to think about how there are so many planets out there that could be like that.

The James Webb Telescope is scheduled to launch in 2021. It's been in planning since the 90s. It will be able to image in inferred and show us things we've never been able to see. It will be able to accurately read the atmospheric compositions of exoplanets. It should tell us a lot about what we think is out there.

Unfortunately, as a species, I don't think we will ever even reach the closest exoplanet to us. That being Proxima b. It orbits the closest star to us, Proxima Centuri. It's about 4 light years away. Just for reference, with current technology, it would take 6,300 years to reach it. While it is in the stars habitable zone, it's thought to be tidally locked. One side always faces it's sun. So it would be too hot on one side and too cold on the other for life. However, it's been hypothesized that there might be a middle ground as the side meet. This is called the Terminator Line. It could even be a luscious world of tropical paradise. Even in that situation, there is a huge caveat. Proxima Centuri is a Red Dwarf star. (The most abundant type of star in the galaxy) and the problem with these types of stars is that a lot of them are very active and release huge flares that bombard their planets with radiation, X-Rays, and Gamma rays. Which would probably strip off any atmosphere the planet had, and make it impossible for life as we know it to exist there.

Oh man. Sorry for the long post. But there will be a test on Friday.
