I have a couple of pieces of fish I will eat before leaving work (I always eat before I leave work so I won't be tempted at ALL to stop at fast food places as I pass about 30 on the way home)...then about a 400 calorie dinner.

I still have to go to the gym today. I'm going to do 6 miles on the bike. I'll probably go here about 2:00 or so.
Exactly what you've got to do, nice job. I need to get back to working out more, I've been lazy since Christmas...

I have been watching what I eat though. Try to do healthier lunches (though sometimes work does pizza and whatnot, that's ok just not all the time), and no more fast food for me (except Subway). Since the beginning of the year I've lost 7ish lbs, not too bad. I'm a slim build, but if I'm not careful I gain the gut weight, not so hot lol...gotta nip it in the bud early.

I have some co-workers who go 3 or 4 times a week and I promised them i'd go at minimum 3 times and some weeks 4 times. It keeps me motivated to see them going, I think, if they are going then I can get off my butt and go as well.

I'm lucky I have a big, barrel chest so a big stomach, while not looking good, is not as obvious as someone that has a more slender frame.

I know one thing, eating that pizza made me feel bleh. I think my body definitely does feel much better when I eat healthy. Maybe it's in my head, I dunno, but I definitely notice it. The pizza sure did taste great though, LOL.

Your body will feel better when you eat healthier, it's not in your head. Your mood will be better too.

Pizza is my huge weakness. I think because it's not as obviously "bad" as say Twinkies so my mind doesn't hate it as much, plus I love the various vegetable/crust/meat combinations that you can get, so it never gets tiresome. And then lastly it's very easy to just pick up and eat a "little", especially since most pizza shops slice their pizzas into littlem slices now. I think they do that knowing people like me are more apt to eat a small slice or three and not think about it as much as we would if the slices were huge slices.

We get pizza here sometimes two or three times a week but then other weeks none at all. I usually have the security guard warn me when pizza is coming and go work out when it's delivered so I won't be tempted but the guy i know who usually does that is out for a few weeks with back surgery.

Well day 3 is just about in the books. Got myself to 2,250 calories, walked for 20 mins, and had a 50/25/25 carb, protein, fat percentage. Not too shabby. It seems as long as I don't eat sweets or simple carbs then the cravings aren't there or aren't as overbearing..

Re: Food Addiction? I think so..

Good job. It'll get easier, trust me. Definitely look around at various meals and recipes folks have on there, especially if you love sweets. Some of my favorite meals I've found for a dessert are simple like having a Jello Mouse or a Betty Crocker Warm Delight Mini with non-fat whip cream, cut strawberries and blueberries on top. Hell, if I have the calories that night and for some reason I feel like eating sweets, I'll throw a scoop of low-fat ice-cream on it. The meal has the look and some taste of a real dessert and the added berries gives my body the sugars it needs plus the fiber.

Luckily for me sweets are not my thing but man, do I love fried chicken or hearty meals. Don't know why, but I just love the hell out of it and what's worse is it can be so bad for you. Meatloafs, Mexican meals, hamburgers, hotdogs, basically 'real' food is what I love to stuff in. Luckily, though, you can modify them to be real healthy. Mexican food & breakfast are one of the best because you can easily work good alternatives in. Instead of whole tortillas check out Mission Carb Balance, or instead of fatty chicken just throw it on the grill and all the veggies on the side count as nothing. Eggs you can use egg beaters, cheese just switch to a low-fat, breakfast sausage swap with turkey sausage. It almost feels wrong how much actual food I can consume on about 600 or so calories with breakfasts & Mexican entrees.

I finished good too, extra lean burger on wheat, low fat cheese, catsup, mustard, onions and lettuce, a side of okra and for desert a fat orange. About 1600 to 1700 calories.

Elgreazy my food pitfalls are like yours, I don't crave sweets or sweet drinks, I just love hearty meals, especially Italian and Mexican food.

My problem is that I never get full. I don't know if it's psychological or not, but my appetite is insatiable. I can't stop eating.

I picked up sugar free jello rice pudding for when I get a craving.

TheMatrix, I'm not sure what to tell you. When I would binge eat I was never hungry or full at that point but I'd eat anyway. I would eat until I was full (I'd take in probably 1,000 calories in a sitting). Maybe try eating a big breakfast? I know that is supposed to help curb appetite. I just got done with a two scoop protein shake and I know I won't feel hungry until noon..

Do you drink enough water? I know that contributes as well..

TheMatrix, it sounds like maybe your stomach is stretched. What i'd recommend is before each meal do one of these three things which will help GREATLY to get full:

                            1. drink 2 glasses of water or sugar free juice
                            2. drink a can of v8 low sodium
                            3. eat a large apple or orange

I somewhat share your problem although mine is more about snacking. When I drink water, eat fruit or drink a can of v8 low sodium it really helps fill me up. I think doing one of these three things will allow you to get full by eating a regular sized meal and not overeating.

Oh and as Pete said, a large, healthy breakfast, until you are very full, will highly control hunger a lot of the day. For example, eat 2 brown eggs, add some egg whites, 2 slices of turkey bacon, 2 pieces of lo-cal whole wheat toast, a large grapefruit, and a medium sized glass of 1% milk should make you feel very full and control your appetite for the rest of the day.

I'd also like to throw in this recommendation for all the guys who don't have the luxury to cook: LEAN CUISINE. Seriously, they have gotten a whole lot better since last time some of you may have tried them and for $2-$3 a pop they're quite economical. On top of that, they are now served with less sodium and minimal preservatives.

On a busy day with classes I'll take one with me and a pre-cooked boneless chicken breast, pop them in the micro, mix and enjoy.
