Oh I agree elgreazy, the Lean Cuisine deep dish pizza is actually pretty good. It's smallish so I eat one with a salad or a grapefruit or something but it can often kill my pizza craving.

I also like the Smart Ones meals (weight watchers), especially the salisbury and macaroni. The only thing with these dinners is the sodium so watch your salt intake and don't rely on them too heavily.

Oh and speaking of which, if you get Schwanns in your area, their Livesmart (healthy) line of frozen meals is the best EVER. They blow away the store-bought ones. They are bigger and much tastier meals for a slightly higher cost. If you're thinking about trying them, try the Livesmart Spaghetti with meat sauce ($3.99 if memory serves) and you will be shocked. It's a pretty big helping of macaroni with chunks of meat and mushrooms and doesn't taste "diet" in the least. In fact i'd eat them even if I didn't give a crap about my health and that's saying something.

So i'd highly recommend you guys check them out. They also have a lot of diet-type ice creams and sweets for you guys who have that as your weekend. Again far better than anything in the store but a little pricer as well. Their Carb Comfort Pecan ice cream (low-carb) is what I usually get and it's freakin' fantastic.

LOL, sorry man. Oh I've done great this week, I think this thread has helped me out. I've lost about 5 pounds this week. Of course I'll gain back 2 pounds this weekend (I don't exercise on the weekends to take a break and whenever I don't exercise I always gain weight). But overall i'm ecstatic that i've gotten things on the right path.

          Since January 4th i've now lost 14 pounds!! (277 => 263)

That's awesome dude! Keep that up and you'll reach your goal quickly. I'm back into the swing of things myself, got to the gym Monday, Tuesday and yesterday, and going tonight. 25 minutes of weights + 45 minutes on the eliptical, been super sore all week but it's a great feeling!

Something clicked motivation wise and this week I've managed to once again, start to lose again. Down to 260 now. It's amazing how much easier exercise gets even when you lose 15 pounds from your frame.

Re: Food Addiction? I think so..

Also, one thing that's really helped me this week I meant to mention, in the spirit of this thread...is that I think I've simply been eating too much when I'm at home. I do fine at work but at home I tend to snack way too much. So this past week, when I began to lose weight again, I have begun drinking one large can of V8 (low sodium) before leaving. It fills me up and I don't get hungry at home at all usually. I've just been having one small snack, or a very light dinner, and it's really helped get me back to losing again.

Something to be thinking about if you like V8. Be sure to get the low sodium though or you'll retain water and there goes any potential weight loss...

Today for lunch I had some sauerkraut with light turkey sausage, a huge grapefruit and a small unsweetened fruit cup. I've found that by focusing on fiber, like one gets from a grapefruit, it really serves to help keep you full much, much, much longer than even "diet" meals do.

Man sometimes it seems that no matter how much i eat i am still hungry. I just have an almost constant hunger, pisses me off!

I've started (for the last 3 weeks anyway) just eating 3 square meals a day and no snacking. People say you should snack to keep away the hunger but to be honest i'm just as hungry if i eat small snacks or not so it's just easier to have 3 meals and i find i can have one larger meal a day to feel full and i can still lose weight.

I'm like you ODogg, i'm fine when i'm busy at work its when i'm home (especially home alone) that i slip up. Maybe i should start workign 7 days per week.

Fibrous meals definitely help, and speaking just for me, in the past I managed to focus my diet basically on nothing but protein (along with exercise) and it was like the fat started to roll off.

Basically I'd eat meat/fish/cheese most of the day, but in controlled portions. Along with carbs for breakfast/supper, and I really didn't have to be too strict about it.

                      Good luck!!

Re: Food Addiction? I think so..

                        Found this interesting:

Recently, Cornell University researchers asked a group of people a simple question: "How do you know when you're through eating dinner?"

The answer might seem obvious. After all, doesn't everyone push the plate away when they feel full? Well, no. The leanest people do, according to the scientists, but people who are overweight rely more on what are known as "external cues." For example, guys packing a few extra pounds tend to stop eating when . . .

                        * Their plates are clean.
                        * Everyone else in their group is finished.
                        * The TV show they're watching is over.

Unfortunately, these cues have nothing to do with how they feel physically. "People's brains are often out of touch with their bodies," says C. Peter Herman, Ph.D., a University of Toronto expert on appetite control. "And when eating becomes mindless, overeating becomes routine."

The key player in all of this appears to be a region of your brain called the left posterior amygdala, or LPA. This area monitors the volume of food in your stomach during a meal. Fill your gut to a comfortable level, and the LPA tells your brain to drop the fork. Trouble is, it delivers that information at dial-up speed in a DSL world. "Many men consume calories faster than their bodies can say, 'Stop!'" explains Herman. "So they look to external cues to guide their consumption."

The bottom line is this: To shrink your gut, you need to start listening to it. We've scoured the science and tapped the top experts to help you learn how to do just that. Use these seven simple strategies, and you'll fill up without filling out.

Dude I don't think snacking is good for some folks. For me it's just constant. It just makes me more and more hungry. This is really working a lot better for me. One meal a night at home and nothing else.

No, I eat normally during the day. I bring only healthy stuff to work so if I want to snack there I don't do anything bad. Basically I have a 350-400 calorie breakfast, usually oatmeal, wheat toast w/unsalted butter, a banana or something like that...then if I want to snack I have fruits like oranges/kiwis....then usually about 1pm I have about a 350-400 calorie lunch, something like a salad with light italian dressing, a chicken breast without skin or maybe a turkey sandwich on wheat with a small pack of frozen vegetables. I have a lot of stuff at work to snack on which work well, like fruits, lightly salted nuts, peanut butter, trail mix and my go-to...V8 low sodium cans.

So I try to shoot for about 1,000 calories at work (and I'm at work from 8am to 6pm usuallY so it's the majority of my day)...then by the time I get home from work about 7pm I am looking for 200-300 calories in a very light, low fat dinner. No snacking at all at home. I think before I was probably doing about 600 calories worth of snacking and about a 300 calorie dinner, so I was going way over my calories.

I really really disagree with their thought process.

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak
that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.
#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
                                Washington study.
This came from an email I got at work. Not going to say its accurate but the point is. Thirst can be mistake for hunger and just simply drinking water can help cravings. Im the reverse end of the issue. I cant eat enough. When I am at work but cant eat, getting a drink would get me by until lunch/dinner time came. Obviously dont start drinking a high calorie drink but water will help more than you think.
