Seriously take the DNA test and if it ends up being your child then I don't care how bitter she is i'd move heaven and earth to at least have some contact with my child.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Just recieved the worst possible news...
Can people please get over themselves? The child is part you, part her. Unless you're clearly unfit, keeping a child away from one of its parents should be a crime. Why can't people just be civil for the sake of the child? No, they only want to think about their own damn selves... it's such a shame.
Planned or not, this is a huge responsibility for you now. When you get this news, you know it's time that you become a man if you haven't already. You're responsible for a whole other life now and that's something that should be taken extremely seriously.
Good luck to you and your future child. I wish you all the best.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Do what you feel is right.
Anyone telling you to step up and be the dad is wrong. Anyone telling you to just stay out of its life is wrong.
Do what works for you in your life; and what you're ready to deal with in the future. Some people grow up with both parents, some grow up with one, some grow up with none. All can be perfectly productive, well balanced people in the end.
However - making sure you at least pull your end of the financial responsibility is important; assuming the kid isn't put up for adoption and it is actually yours, or that it's not you know what'd.Last edited by MC Fatigue; 02-22-2010, 12:01 AM.Comment

so why does she want to keep the child away from you? Does she have a good reason or is she just mad you are not together? My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Man, that must be rough. I know I was scared sh*%less when my gf thought she might be pregnant a few years ago. Back then, I was barely making ends meet for me.
Hoping it's not yours, but if it is you need to do the right thing.
Having 2 supportive parents (even if they aren't together) is much better than just one.
Anyone that says otherwise is just fooling themselves.Comment

This just happened to someone I know recently. They have since moved in with each other, are engaged, and seem on the outside to be happy with their 6 mo old daughter.

Re: Just recieved the worst possible news...
This is NOT the worst possible news at all. It really pains me to read something like this.
However i do understand if that is the worst possible woman for this to happen with or something like that but not that your going to be a father. Again i understand how she will make this terrible, but nothing about the kid is terrible. Just keep that in mind.Comment

Nah, I can see what he's saying. If you aren't ready to be that man, then maybe it's best to step aside. I think you should still be in their life, but maybe not as the father/dad figure. It's a delicate situation...NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
