You want to live up in the mountains, therefore your statement doesn't count.

Live in the civilized parts of NC (i.e. Charlotte) and you'd feel different.

Hiking, skiing, white water rafting, sports events, lakes, low cost of living, southern women, good night life downtown, nice weather, and close to beaches.

I like it

I live in the third largest metropolitan area in North Carolina right now. However, I've never been a fan of living in a large city. I like rural living better. :wink:

Still, this isn't a bad place to live. I'm four hours from the beach, about an hour from Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock, and about two hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I don't think the weather is very nice here, though! It's always too hot for me in the summer, especially with the high humidity we get here along with the high temperatures. It's almost as bad as Florida!

im going to take a trip to nc by my lonesome and check it out for like an extended weekend, maybe job hunt or something...

i defintly need a change of pace.

Each part of NC is a little bit different. The 3 biggest areas are RTP (Raleigh/Durham), The Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point) and Charlotte.

I would recommend the RTP (minus Durham) and Charlotte.

Those of you who like NC, I can't wait til I get a car so I can actually go do "fun things". Me personally, I find it boring as hell here in Chapel Hill, besides UNC Sports, there's really not much. Whoever said NC BBQ is the best, kill yourself. St Louis, Texas, and Memphis are all better.

Yep, one thing is for sure: NOTHING compares to North Carolina barbecue!!! NOTHING!!!

NC is not that great. The houses are beautiful (even then, depends on where you're at) but other than... If I didn't have family down there and there wasn't a Golden Corral down there I would immediately pass.

Most would disagree. I've had other barbecues and had to when I lived in West Virginia, but there's something about North Carolina barbecue that makes it amazingly good.
