I thought this was the real reason you like your job:

Some old missed faces in there.

I've been on OS for a long while now and I just ignored a lot of those classic threads. I don't know why.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Yeah looking at those old threads, reminds me of how Gamefaqs use to be 10 years ago, a TON of fun. Sadly nowadays on the internet people take stuff said on here way too personal.

I am not surprised......I know quite a few people who lost everything from being addicted to World of Warcraft, The Sims and Second Life.

On an old message board I frequented there was a recover WOW addict. It is insane how much those types of games can eat up someone's life.

Most of those old school posters are no longer here with the influx of kids and new guys. Some are still around but they don't post much if at all, just as a couple of those guys mentioned above.

There was a time when a poster was a jerk, he'd get pranked by the admin or a staff mod and everyone would get a kick out of it.

We had tons of classic threads on OS back when.... no so much anymore.

Its just not even the close to the same as far as discussions. Some guys who debate certain things don't know the history behind when certain things started like the Kobe debates... there were a bunch of guys who started that crap that got banned from the site like MostWanted (which wasnt as necessary to be frequent as it is now)..

It was much more of a discussion forum overall back then, now you have it all, complainers, kids, those who wanna call out mods, those who want to call out everyone ,devs, mods, posters..

As far as mature stuff... lol They would at least consider things in the past like a babes forum or political debate forum, but it doesnt stand a chance to last 5 minutes now.
                            Agree 100%.

Some of those old threads bring back memories. Definitely remember Cooksu, UBBCode, Force_Aware, Pol etc... Those were good times. Not saying that there aren't good times on OS nowadays, but I suppose we're all older now and have more real world responsibilities that things have to change. For me, there just isn't enough time in the day for work, family and OS. Work and family always come first and if I get around to OS, great...if not, no big deal.

Just a thought, but maybe it's not that they want to live in their safe little world, but they don't want to argue/debate on a venue such as Facebook? Maybe I use Facebook in a different manner than some though. I use it to keep in touch with old friends and see pictures of their families etc... I don't go on it to discuss/debate topics as it almost seems counterproductive.
