You get light headed because squats tax the entire body/central nervous system. As you continue to progress it will gradually go away.

Good I am sick of the feeling.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Well, it's about time to get back on the wagon for me!

After losing about 35 pounds over the course of 4 months or so, I let my weight slip onto the backburner of priorities. That happened in September. Since then, over the course of the past 3-4 months, I've gained back about 10 of those pounds. It's time for me to take this seriously, and I am now making it my one and only New Year's Resolution to finally get in shape.

I'm 6'2'', 278 right now. The most I've ever weighed is 303 pounds this past May. I've always had a big frame but I'm tired of that being an excuse. My first long-term goal is to reach 233. Once I get there, I will no longer be considered medically obese. This won't be my only goal by any means, but knowing that I lost 35 pounds in 4 months makes me confident that I can lose 45 pounds when I commit myself to it.

My short term goal is to get under 270. I haven't weighed less than 270 pounds in a couple of years. This was the low mark that I reached in September before giving up on losing weight, so breaking that number would be huge for me mentally, knowing I am making real progress.

First step for me is purchasing this scale. I've had a scale but it has been a little imprecise for my liking. I can weight myself in the span of a half hour or so and get numbers that are a couple pounds different. I liked the reviews of this one and I am hoping that it will get me to think "fresh start" along with the New Year aspect.

With the new year coming, are any other OS'ers making a positive change for themselves and their weight?

          Good luck with your quest!

I am currently trying to get over 230 before 1/3/11. On that day, our police department starts it's Biggest Loser competition. I know how to lose weight and can do so with ease. I am looking forward to 11 weeks of intense lifting & dieting to get back in shape for when the warmer months come. My goal is to lose 10% of my bodyweight. Our competition is gauged in % bodyweight lost, not total weight. I like how that levels the playing field a tad.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

After eating and drinking way to much over xmas i'm back at it hardcore again now. I put on 6lbs in a week and half but have already dropped 2 of it back down again. I think for 2011 I'm going to focus more on becoming a better "athlete" as opposed to being so focused solely on bodybuilding type goals.

One area I want to get much better at (as well as continuing to drop body fat) is my distance running and general fitness so i've decided to cut back my weight lifting from a 5 or 6 day a week split to a 3 day split and i'll be adding longer runs (minimum of 5k runs and prob no longer than 10k) on the "off days" 3 times per week with one rest day per week. I'm also tracking my calories on livestrong which is an awesome free calorie tracking website that i just started using: http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/

I'm going more low carb with carb up days as well as I think this will really help me lean up more quickly.

My main reason behind this change in focus is that I'm 30 now, happily married with a child (and planning to have another) and really just want to stay fit and healthy for the long haul. No doubt that lifting very heavy 5 or 6 times per week added some muscle mass but i think for the long run i'd prefer to be fitter and leaner while still keeping a decent amount of muscle rather than the full on "bulked" look of a bodybuilder.

My current workout split looks liks this (all exercises are 4 sets usually 4-10 rep range):

            SUNDAY: ABS +RUN

            MONDAY: CHEST + BACK

            FLAT BENCH PRESS
            FLAT DB PRESS
            INCLINE DB PRESS
            PULLUPS
            DEADLIFTS
            BB ROWS

            TUESDAY: ABS + RUN

            WEDNESDAY: SHOULDERS + BI’S + TRI’S

            OH DB PRESS
            FRONT LATERAL RAISE
            BB CURLS
            HAMMER CURLS
            TRI PUSHDOWN
            OH TRI DB EXTENTION

            THURSDAY: ABS + RUN

            FRIDAY: LEGS

            SQUATS
            SLDL
            DB LUNGES
            CALF RAISES

            SATURDAY: Rest day

How does that look to you guys?

              Looks good to me man.

I'm doing low carb right now and it truly helps curve my appetite.

Yeah things like egg, cheese and meat are nice and filling. Do you do the carb up's or just straight low carb?

I'm going to carb up on day 14 & then day 7 from then on out.

Today is day #7. Doing pretty well. Need to have more desire to lift/workout though!!! Cold weather just kills it for me.

Day 14 I'll eat a bunch of oatmeal and will definitely crush a low-fat pizza with wheat crust. Then I'll probably give myself a low-fat treat.

Carb days are supposed to be mainly carbs, some protein, and little fat. Also I'm going to do a depletion workout on day #13. That will make my body use those carbs quick! I'll do a big leg day on day 15

Sore all over, I love this feeling. Two more weeks and therapist said I can start running. Haven't jogged/sprinted since August (torn acl btw)

I am currently down from 325 pounds to 207 pounds. Eating less and using Ozempic. Ozempic is not an easy path to losing weight btw, it's a lot of nausea that makes you avoid food and sometimes you do get sick, so it's not easy and for some impossible.

I'm 6 foot so my goal is to get to 190 pounds, so I am 17 pounds away!

Eat 1800 calories, try to walk 10k steps a day which should be close to 400 calories burned and above all do weight training unless you just want to look skinny flabby. Weights will completely transform your body. If you do the 10k steps a day you can eat 2200 calories. You’ll still lose 1-2 pounds a week. Like you I’m 6 foot tall and weight 186..

I have a long history of weight battling.

Always a husky person, even from birth I was 13lbs, lol.

Age 17-19 I got down to 150-175lbs range. Felt great!

College got to me and currently at the age of 26 I am 317lbs.

I have just never had the motivation to really keep off the weight. I get down to 250-280 on the regular with work, but my eating habits are poop.

I'm finally on the horse to getting down weight. First goal is 275, then 250, 225, 200, and would like to sit right there.

117lbs to go. Let's do this.

I seriously would ask your doctor if Wagovy is right for you. It's Ozempic for non-diabetics. It prolongs the amount of time that food stays in your stomach, which means you aren't near as hungry. And as I said above, it will f*** you up if you overeat and you will learn not to, LOL.

I worked all my life to lose weight and could always lose fast at first, but was often like peddling uphill to get anywhere near my goal weight. It ain't a cure-all, you still have to learn to eat smaller, eat better choices, but it is a massive help for us heavier guys.

I understand though if you don't want to take a drug, but just saying it has helped my wife and I both to lose a huge amount of weight.

That's probably one of my worst traits... lol.

I haven't seen an actual doctor since I was 18.

I go to my specialist who gives me medicine for gout. Probably should consider that option, lol. Thank you for the suggestion, I appreciate that!

Yeah man, just to give you an idea, just on my own I went from 325-330 down to 249 pounds. I was stuck there for a long time. Sometimes I'd go to 240 but I'd always go back to about 249, no matter if I exercised like an NFL guy LOL, or ate virtually nothing.

Once the doctor started me on Ozempic I continued to do the same thing, I just felt less hungry and eventually the weight started coming off. About 2 pounds per week or so, it ain't gonna cause fast weight loss, but that's good, the slower the better your body adjusts.

My wife is on Wagovy and she has went from about 210 pounds to 160 and she's loving it as well.
