Also, yet again, I didn't say, nor imply, that your habits are my concern. It would be nice if people could post something without people like you putting words in their mouth and acting like they said things they didn't nor were they even implying.

    Now I've judged you??????

I commented on a habit, period. That's it, nothing more nothing less. I in no way indicated that you were less of a human being or anything remotely related to that.

Now, HERE's half the problem today. Way too many people, like you, are overly sensitive and get all offended and jump to conclusions.

Actually, you're just like all the other overly sensitive people in today's society. If you truly didn't give a crap what others thought of your habit, you wouldn't have responded (actually, you didn't even respond to what I said, you responded to a bunch of things I didn't say). You'd have moved on w/o thinking about it.

Congratulations, you're just like most of the country and it's very clear you do care what others think, which again, makes you just like most everybody else.
Not 1 time in my post did I say you had these feelings. I wasn't attacking you at all. You really need to read my post again and rethink what you typed. I am not overly sensitive. This whole thread has people over and over saying they think it's gross and disgusting and I have only made 1 comment about it.

You really took that personal, like I was attacking you for what you said. I was commenting about do I really worry about being someone that other people find gross or disgusting.

So...if you go back and read my post again, and you can point out where I was directing any of that at you....I will apologize and re-type it, as that was not my intention.

I suggest you do that pretty damn quickly though!

Conformity is not how I live my life!
I agree based on the principle that people who don't drink/smoke/etc often times will proudly announce such and then look down at people who do. The later post in this thread also kinda reinforces this point.

I would agree with this, as a lot of people do judge, but not all. As I said before, it doesn't bother me that people hate that I chew, or hate that other people smoke. I DO believe it is the responsibility of those who chew and smoke, to have measures in place, so their habits do not affect other people's daily lives and routines.

        It's just common courtesy.

I guess it depends on your nicotine tolerance but my boy from college always said that dipping feels like you chugged five beers in 60 seconds. That's how it feels for me, an almost-instant buzz that relaxes the ever living hell out of you.

That's the thing with it though, if you do it constantly and your body gets used to it then the buzz is barely there IMO. The spring semester of my senior year in college I was dipping a few times a week and the buzz, thankfully, became very weak compared to what it is when I only dip a few times a year. That's probably why I never did it consistently, it wasn't worth it because the buzz weakened quite a bit with more frequent use.

What does it taste like? The only unprocessed tobacco i have seen are the plants which have big green leaves. Are you just chewing on a Tobacco leaf or do they treat it somehow first?

Sorry very clueless on this subject as I've said I've never even seen it done let alone done it myself.

Much like any other vice, it is just funny how much we are drilled as kids to not smoke, drink, or do drugs. But we allow peer pressure to make us curious, eventually fall for it, and sometimes get addicted to it.

I've been quitting dipping on and off for 2 years now. I quit for a month mid-way through last year and gained 12 pounds....12 pounds on a 165lbs dude is a noticeable difference. I was starting to look like a rolly polly. Not to mention every meal you have you think about it, every time you see somebody else using any tobacco you think about it. I swear it's like Pavlov's Dog. Just quit again for 4 days before I gained 6 pounds and went to the store and grabbed two cans of skoal berry. If you don't do it already, don't EVER EVER EVER EVER do anything more then try it once. It will haunt you for the rest of your life if you become addicted to it.

Buddy of mine at work made it three weeks in January, he turned into such an @ss his wife had a roll (5 cans) on the kitchen table when he walked in from work one night and said, "Shove these in your face or get out of my house."

I always thought yadee yadee ya it's gross, it's nasty I won't do it for long, oh I won't EVER get addicted to anything.....I WAS WRONG!!!!

Well the funny thing about it is that like many things in life, if you are told false statements and forced to take them as fact, if you find out that those statements are indeed false you will suddenly lose all trust in the person who initially told you that stuff.

The problem with things like drugs, tobacco and alcohol is that many of the statements that are made about the dangers of addiction, and the damage they do to your body are indeed true. But the truth doesn't show itself the first time you use it. Or the second, or maybe even the third. So suddenly, all these tales of this stuff making you a crazy lunatic who will jump off the roof of a skyscraper seem like complete lies. Therefore, the person will use them again and again and again and some of those statements start becoming true.

We learn not to touch hot objects, or poke yourself with sharp objects because the dangers associated with that are felt IMMEDIATELY. With drugs/tobacco/alcohol, those dangers don't typically show up immediately and therefore we (human beings) tend to disregard it. A nasty little paradox thing there.

The study of addiction and how it develops is really an interesting field and something that I'm kind of happy to be a part of in my work.

Perfect analogy. That's the thing that gets me. Everytime I think about quitting smoking, I always resort back to "I've only been smoking for a year, I still have 5, 10, or even 20 years left of smoking before I absolutely need to quit." It's annoying. I'm sure if I walked into a doctors office tomorrow and he/she told me I had lung cancer, I'd quit right then and there.

I always told myself when I was younger I would never burn, dip, drink, or smoke. I never had any interest in doing any of it, now I'm 20 and I drink fairly often, it doesn't help my friends all love to drink and burn everyday.

Honestly, Burning does nothing for me, but I do it because my friends are always rolling blunts, so i say what the hell...

Smoking: I do once in a while, I hate cigs... But Black and Milds.... whoooooo, I'd be a regular smoker if had those around often, have craving right now lol

Dippin: I loved, my best friend dips a ton, and he got me hooked for about a week, but I realized it wasn't worth it. None of it is really, but they relieve stress and some taste good and make you feel good, and we're only people.

Never tried anything, no smoking, drinking, dipping, or burning. I'm one of a few people that can learn from other people's mistakes and thats just stuff I don't want to get involved with.

I'm also sort of scared of what might happen if I were to get drunk.
Pretty much everyone I know is entertained at the stuff they did the prior night but don't remember, but I would be kicking myself. I like to be in full control of myself. I'm also scared that I might be an angry/aggressive drunk, so I have no intentions to drink at this current moment.
