If you want a little comic relief during your trip, go to Haight-Ashbury.
I write things on the Internet.

True, I was telling my friend the same thing. I think the song started that though. I usually just say California.

Lol I'll make note of that. I need to talk to my friend who is from LA then. He ALWAYS calls it Cali. In fact he is going home in like 2 weeks and all you hear from him is, "I'm going back to Cali baby!"

I don't call it Cali all that much either, not sure why I typed that.

Los Angeles is its own separate entity. They march to the beat of their own drum down there. Bunch of oddballs I tell ya.

Is he actually from here? I don't know anyone from here who does. Actually we tend to mock those that do, pretty badly.

Thanks again for the input, I'll try and hit what restaurants I can, and might see the museum if I can work it out.

Yea he is born and raised in Los Angeles, at least thats what he says. I understand the not liking Cali thing. I hate when people say Cincy.

I'm staying downtown, so will be around a lot of fun stuff. I'll be looking up things on the web tomorrow, but thought OS might have some cool suggestions for things to check out.
If you want to get a car, Muir Woods is cool. Also, the Jelly Belly factory isn't far away! We went to both when we were out there. We decided not to do the whole Alcatraz tour, but took the Blue & Gold tour around the bay. Walking across the Golden Gate is cool, and Golden Gate Park is really nice. Go to Ghiradelli while you're down there (great hot chocolate.) I'd just take the F-Line down to Pier 39 and have an all day of it. I love SF, and can't wait to go back!

apparently people from SF hate "san fran" or "frisco"

I love California though, I wish I could get someone there to hire me and fill out all those forms and live there. I was surprised at how much I loved LA, and could easily live there, but I'd need to have some money and live in a nice area. My ex gf lived in a cool little apt in brentwood. I could do that for sure.

Whenever I do get a chance to go there, I'll be looking for a little "Californication".

If you're going to hit up the Jelly Belly Factory, you might as well follow it up and tour the Budweiser plant, which is like a mile away or less.

Like everyone else has said, if you're looking for the one stop spot, start at Pier 39 and go in any direction.

If you're looking for some great photo spots, you can hit up Hawk Hill right north of the Golden Gate in Sausalito. From there, you have great panoramic views of the bridge, Alcatraz, the bay and the entire city.

I forgot you were there. Man, what's funny is the thing I remember the most is this place called the Buttercup Grill over in Oakland where we stayed. It was connected to the hotel we stayed in. That place had the best food and a ton of it, cheap! I'm jealous of you. If I could afford it, I'd move there tomorrow, earthquakes or not!

Yeah, we went out there about 5 years ago, before my oldest was born, (she was expecting him at the time) and I just loved it. We started out in LA, where her brother lives, and I just hated it. We took a Southwest up to visit SF and stayed in Oakland. We both wanted to stay up there for the rest of the vacation and not go back to LA. I really would love to move there, but would probably live outside of the city. It's so dang expensive out there. I have family in both Oakland and Berkeley. We also have friends in Benicia. Maybe I should go visit them! I just think it's funny I still remember the Buttercup. That place was so good to me. All the nice places to eat, and here I love this diner! LOL!

We also went to some mall in Hayward. It was pretty nice. I remember it because I was trying to find a game store to get NCAA early. But, yeah, I'm jealous. Bay-Area is the bomb. Just hope it doesn't get a big earthquake in the near future, they seem to be going around.... BTW, did they get the highway fixed from that truck that burned?
