Re: What would you do? (Money/Death)
Let's not get technical about it. This is a hypothetical question. lol.
Family is obviously more important than a random person. But I will not kill a random person unless they are trying to kill me or my family. I will not kill an innocent person to get money that may or may not save a family member. I just won't. And what if that random person just happens to be another family member.
So your in the hospital and your Dad needs a new heart or he will die, but you do not have that money to cover it. Would you go and kill an innocent person who had 100k on them? I could not do that. That is what is happening here, you are not the one actually killing the person but you are making a decision to kill them.
As I said in my scenario, SOMEONE is going to die EITHER WAY. You take the money, a random person dies. You don't take the money, your relative dies. So you're saying you'd rather just let your relative die just because you wouldn't be able to live with the guilt of indirectly killing a random person? What about the guilt you'd have of not saving your relatives life?Indianapolis Colts

I would take the cash! People die every day, so why not get some cash off it.In all honesty when my brother die something die in me. So death is now just apart of my life. I realize that my mom and my dad are going to be dead soon, so I just came to the realization people die. I could be dead tomorrow, you just never know. I would not take the money, that is not right for the people that would miss them.

Re: What would you do? (Money/Death)
It is the same. Your making a choice to take someone elses life for money. That is murder and you caused it.
Of course your family is more important to you then a random person. You have something in common with 6 billion people.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. And there is a big difference in killing someone trying to cause harm on your family and protecting your family, and killing for money that might save your son's life.Comment

Re: What would you do? (Money/Death)
The end result may be the same but the process is different. If I don't have to get my hands dirty I would do it in a heartbeat to save my kid. I don't have to constantly see visions in my head of me killing someone because I wouldn't physically be doing it. So if I knew 100K was needed to save a family member I would do it.Indianapolis Colts

What if someone had that same mind set and the death would be your kid? Pretty interesting now.Comment

Re: What would you do? (Money/Death)
A part of countryboy's signature pretty much sums this up for me:
"I can't shave with my eyes closed. Meaning each day, I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see."
Even if it was anonymous, and I was the only one who knew about it, I could never bring myself to do it. Because I'd have to live with the guilt of it, and that is something I cannot possibly do.Comment

Re: What would you do? (Money/Death)
Would you know who died or would it be random? Also would you be attributed with the death? Would people know your greed killed the person?
If the answers are random and it's a secret then I'd probably do it.
Yes, I'm a horrible person. Flame me. I see enough dead people a week that I don't know that it would probably be no different feeling for me than any of those "accidents" or "murders".
In my profession if you don't turn those feelings off you won't last long. Is that wrong? Probably. But it's just a way of life.
So yes, I'd probably do it. I'm not sure how many times I would do it though.
PS- The Box was bad.
and this is something I would hopefully never do.
Whats the difference in just going out and killing someone then???
I strongly believe that unless you invested the money it'd be gone a lot faster than we'd like to admit anyhow. So then you would wind up with no material gain that you aren't likely tired of anyhow, and the guilt on your hands that somebody still isn't breathing.
Unless you just chose to keep doing it...because people have become worthless...because of your line of work. What a load.Last edited by onlybygrace; 04-14-2010, 01:29 AM.Comment
