Finally making one of these threads...

    http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktl...,3379608.story

You gotta be kidding me. What a cowardly, hateful person to do such a thing.

I own a 7 lb dog and you know what...they can't do any damage to you unless you're an infant.

I hope this worker gets disciplined in a harsh way and that restitution is made with the dog's family.

    Makes me sick to read

That's terrible, I can see if its a BIGGER dog trying to defend yourself. But for a little poodle? Seriously? Just as easy could of put the stick in front of it, as if you were blocking it.

That makes me just wonder with some people..

Wait why are they calling it a toy poodle? Is that the name of the breed. Anyway that is pretty sick and terrible, she has to find new ways to control the anger she has.

I am sure he was not trying to kill it, probably just wanted to not get bit. I would have pushed it away with my foot, but, he was probably trying to scared it and hit it in the right spot. Sad story, but getting bit by a dog no matter what size is not fun.

        How about this story.

Toy Poodle is the type of Breed. Funny enough Toy Poodles are Classified as Non Sporting dogs rather than Toy Dogs.

Sick none the less, I really believe that Animal Cruelty Penalties should be Much harsher. I am so sick of stuff like this..

I don't see how this is animal cruelty unless he repeatedly beat the dog in the face. I carry a wooden stick with me when walking my dog because people don't know the concept of fences. I have no problem giving a dog a nice kick to the face or a swat to the face if they charge up on me. Hell I know a lady that carries a cattle prod with her.

We have a golden retriever and a miniature rat terrier. The terrier has no problem breaking skin with his bite and has done it to my friends before and bit a lady we had spraying for bugs, luckily she had on pants. What the hell do you expect someone to do when an animal is charging them? These small dogs are pretty damn fast too.

How is that animal cruelty? If he beat the dog repeatedly to INTENTIONALLY kill it, then I could see the words 'animal cruelty' and 'sick' being thrown around. Otherwise this is just another sad and unfortunate incident. This guy could have a fear of dogs or be allergic to them for all we know.

I kicked a chihuahua who bit me once.

If people want to keep animals in public, they should know that humans are generally more powerful than their animals. As such, they should tame their animals to not attack people.

The perceived cuteness of the animal should have no bearing in how much leeway it gets in attacking humans.

this is just unfortunate for both parties , victims on both sides of this incident . the meter reader was well within his rights but that's no consulation to woman . maybe this accident can help others from making same mistakes made by both sides

This is all true, Little dogs are far more vicious than bigger dogs. But Dogs get out on occasion, it happens. A dog Escaping his owner should not be a death sentence.

I actually got bit by a Pit bull today, he didn't draw any blood but the pressure of his bite was rather impressive.

I was a water meter recently and the given rule is if a dog was being agressive OUTSIDE it's yard...you handled it depending on your personal safety.

I'm not afraid of dogs at all but alot of my co-workers were and you'd be amazed at how often dogs got sprayed or beat away because they were roaming free and approached my coworkers growling/barking. Dogs have a tendency to sense fear and take advantage of it.

Its not a tendency, it is a matter of fact. People have no clue what signals they send to dogs on a daily basis Let me draw out a scenario and tell you the difference between a dog's mind and a Person's mind.

Mailman approaches a dog outside a home, he goes over to pet it and gets bit. The mailman thinks he was being friendly to him by going over and petting it. The dog on the other hand perceives this mailman as a threat .The mailman looking at the dog, the mailman is standing over the dog, and the mailman encroaching on this dogs space; all of which are signs of aggression towards the dog.

Not to sound like Cpt. Know-it-all, but I think everyone knows this. It's common sense really. Anytime I'm walking my dog and someone approaches me looking at my dog, they ALWAYS ask if my dog bites or is aggressive. I say no and they kneel down to pet it.

I know I would never walk up to a dog, or any animal, that I didn't know and try and pet it without asking the owners first.

Either way I don't know what this has to do with this thread. The meter guy didn't walk up to the dog, the dog walked(or ran actually) up to him.

There's a difference between kicking a dog to put it in its place and destroying it with a metal stick.

It tore the f'n dog up and killed it. One swing of a stick. That is one aggressive swing.

WTF is a 6 lb dog going to do to you? Tug on your pants? Bite an ankle?
