Wasteland, Faevla, Rundown are just a few of the levels where that is possible.
You must have the worst luck ever. If this happened in every game how in the world did you last 20 games? I would of gave up after 5.

Like I said I've put over 10 days of playing time which equals thousands of matches and you've seen more cheating then I have in not only 20 matches, but 20 straight matches.

Little did I know that "multiplayer" actually meant online play. I don't know how on earth offline multiplayer now needs to be spelled out as the standard to clear confusion, but it's just unfortunate how little split-screen action we get anymore.

I was an avid fan of playing baseball online for the first time with Backyard Baseball 2001, and then played THPS 3 online when I first got the PS2 network adapter and got SOCOM shortly thereafter and fell in love with it. But I can only really restrict my online play to shooters, and even then I mostly enjoy the single player (except for SOCOM and COD). GTA was fun online, but even the defaults annoy the hell out of me. Auto-aim is just frustratingly unskillful and detracts from the experience.

Now that my rant is over, I just wanted to go back and say that I agree there are way too many resources focused on the online aspect when there are some other glaring issues that should be looked into beforehand.
I couldn't agree more with the OP and Blzer. I miss the days of sitting beside a friend while playing a racing game. Or hell, most games for that matter. While, I don't play to many two-player games, I still love to have it as on option. I think that's why I tend to keep games like Gears of War and Little Big Planet.

As far as Sports games online go, I haven't really played that much this gen. I used to play NCAA 2003 all the time online. And from my experience, 1 out of 10 players were decent players the rest were hardcore cheeser's. Now, (especially since I joined OS) I know that it's best to play against people you know. Honestly, it's really not for me. I like to play games on my time when whenever I want to play them so, I really don't think I'll ever be a online gamer.

IMO, I wish that games like Madden would have to separate teams. One for offline (however you would still have the ability to DL roster's online) and one for online. They should sell separately for $40 a piece or $60 for both. This way each team could completely focus on their own aspects and wouldn't have to worry about the other. Plus there would be plenty of disc space for each team. I guess that's a fairly unreasonable request but, since I have zero interest in playing online I could careless if my game had it or not.

Now I will agree with you(the OP) on sports games. I've tried getting into online play with sports games and I can't do it. Too many immature people pulling the plug, using some stupid glitch, etc. Not fun at all.

For FPS', disagree. That's all I ever play with FPS games. Once I beat campaign, I never touch it again; strictly online play from there. And as I said, I don't encounter cheaters that much. Maybe I'm the luckiest guy in the world. I don't know.
That is exactly how I am. Once I beat campaign mode It becomes non-existent to me and If It doesn't have online/free world It's going straight to game stop.

Also I don't play anything else to much besides free for all or team death match. I haven't really tried anything else. I've only seen maybe 1 or 2 nukes(I can't remember) and 2 might be a stretch because, I've been playing MW2 since day 1. I usually don't see to much cheating, glitching or whatever. I actually find MW2 online pretty fun most of the time.

I would agree that sports online is way worse but, lately I haven't played a lot of glitchers and cheaters. I'm in the minority when it comes to online sports because, I get almost nothing out of beating the CPU and playing offline franchise.

For those that have a hard time playing sports games online due to the glitchers/cheesers/etc. I recommend joining an online league/franchise.

I would never play Madden after the first 2 maybe 3 months before this year. Now I'm still in 2 separate online franchises. It's just so much funner to be able to play in a league that has rules in place that weed out the quitters and glitchers and non-sim players.

Not a big fan of online either.

Got some buddies who are trying to get me stoked up to play RDR and Madden online with them this year and that doesn't sound to bad so far.

Re: Ive had about enough of this "online" gaming revolution

The only game I play online is COD:World at War, which is much more cheat-free than MW2. (Everyone is 5 steps ahead of me on MW2, I can usually go positive still on WAW) I've had fun with that game, and it's filled my video game for the most part lately. It's quick and convenient.

Yet, Frankly, sports games online are GARBAGE. That's the worrisome thing for me, as a strictly franchise sports gamer, that online is taking over. I didn't buy ANY sports game this past cycle (Last purchase was the Show 09, actually that might be last cycle). Part of it is not having nearly the time I used to. But I don't feel many sports games justify the purchase anymore because the franchise modes are dead.

Video games in general don't seem to be worth the buck. Like I said, I don't nearly have as much time for games, but I look at older games and how much time was spent on those, and look at today. How many games really have much replay value anymore?

Agreed with this thread. I think games would be much better if so much time wasnt dedicated to online gaming.

Especialy when only a handful of games can do it well, anyway. Nothing ticks me off more than pressing a button and not seeing the action right then, and most online play in sports games is like that. Only FIFA and NHL seem to be seemless for me.

Agreed with the OP. Outside of a couple shooters (COD and Halo mostly), I hardly ever play my games online.

I'd much rather go over to a buddies house and talk **** while I'm kicking his butt at Madden than do it over a mic, but I know that some people don't have that luxury.

I stick with local friends/OS'ers when I play online these days.

Re: Ive had about enough of this "online" gaming revolution

Excellent observations, OP but I don't blame the developers of gaming...

...but rather the parents of the gamers. People (especially kids & teenagers) now-a-days have no decency, fairness or overall sense of manners; it's an all-for-one mentality where one simply does anything possible to get the best score so if that means cheating, skewing numbers, "boosting", finding glitches and holes within the AI to do it then society now sees no problem with it. Even the best development team could make a game with seemingly no flaws or glitches to be exploited but somehow people will find ways to "beat" the game. There is no sense of pride in doing things the right way.

I attempt to enjoy MW2 and while I'm not the best at it I try to do people right. I'm not running around with a friggin' RPG everywhere shooting it a mile or primarily using only the grenade launcher but I play it the right way; if it's a game of Demolition I will try to defend/detonate the bomb and take anybody out that's in my path; if it's a baseball game and I'm losing 10-4 in the 4th inning I will continue until the end of the game. If I lose, I'll tip my hat to you and try again with my next opponent but if I win (and rightfully so) I expect you to do the same.

Maturity is the issue not the games.

MW2 is fine. The frustrations with it are pretty much the same as they were with COD 4. One issue I have with MW2 is the "paybackill" You kill a guy, they watch killcam and switch over to marathon+lightweight and make it their mission to kill you. And, since there are 2 ways into almost every room in every map, they get that kill.

That's to minor for me to stop playing, though

Or it can be much easier then that. They spawn right behind you! My biggest gripe with the COD series is the spawning system, it is horrible.

I still think, at least the majority of the time, online gaming is fun. I don't play sports games online, just shooters so I obviously don't know how bad the cheesing really is online with Madden etc. I do, however, miss local multiplayer on games. Its more fun to get a group of friends together, one or two gaming consoles in the same room/house and go at it. XBL is fun, but its different and takes some unidentifiable aspect away.
