    Re: Home Depot Rant !

Working in retail as I am, I am always nice and polite to people until they start being pricks. Then I say things that they could take as offensive, but there would be no way I could get in trouble, as I would word them carfully.

Also, I hate it when someone asks me where something is....when it is right behind them or when instead of asking for help, they will just stare at you and not say a word. Then they get mad because you couldnt read their minds.

      Sorry, I disagree.

If I spend 10-20 minutes looking for a specific item and I can't find it, I'm going to try to find someone in that area and ask for help. I really could care less if it's found behind, in front or on the side. I've had that happen several times where I just missed seeing it.

        Ha, I'm with you.

My time limit is 15 minutes.

I'll walk around any store 4 or 5 times but if I can't find something specific after 15 minutes I'll break down and ask someone...

Yup, there's a place like that nearby that I go to, even when there's a Menards, Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace all within a 10 minute drive.

I also prefer to support a locally owned place where the help is actually helpful (even if it costs a couple extra bucks), rather than line some corporate jerkoff's pocket.

That is why I usually go to Lowes instead. I also seem to have an issue with Home Depot.

For example last week I was returning a water jug for a water dispenser and the return box was full. I asked if I should just bring the empty one to the cashier and they told me to come back when the return box was empty. What a joke.

That I dont mind at all Roadman. What I do mind is when someone comes into my department, does a quick turn of the head from side to side, where their eyes are in direct contact with the item for at least few seconds....then asks where the item is.

Most of the time its the GPS's. And the kicker is is that there is a big friggin sign above them that says "GPS" and then there is a display case of all the models we sell.

I was in Home Depot a couple times this weekend getting paint. I didn't have any problems with the employees. I think in stores of that size finding a bad employee is inevitable.

You should have said something to one of the many managers there. Probably would have gotten a discount.

Ok, now I can understand that.

Maybe they need a GPS to find where other GPS's are in the store.

Paint is the one department that the Home Depot I worked in always had fully staffed. And since it was front end, managers would pop in and help when it got busy. I always figured paint was a cash cow for HD.

Out here, paint department is at the back of the store, right in the middle, not really staffed at all. But then again maybe if the 8 workers I seen clumped together leaning against the shelves BS'ng around, maybe some of them worked in paint department.
