Throw in QOTSA and Them Crooked Vultures and now you have 4 different "styles" (although QOTSA and Them Crooked Vultures are relatively close) and now the case can be made that Dave Grohl was just as good a innovator as the Beatles were.

While I'm on Grohl, I think he is without a doubt one of the better (if not the best) musicians of the past 20 years, let alone this decade.
Alright, I'm done defending the Beatles. I'm not even sure if you've listened to all their stuff from the beginning to the end.

Dave Grohl, while good, hasn't done anything groundbreaking, other than drumming for a band that was christened as the voice of a generation. Them Crooked Vultures actually really disappointed me. And giving Dave Grohl credit for anything Nirvana did is quite a stretch.

I will just say this about Dave. When he join Nirvana that is when the band took off he is a legend on the drums. But never really had much say in the band. Now that he went on his own. His musical talent for writing songs and playing many instruments shined.

I've listened to quite a bit of the Beatles. But I just don't see what the big deal is. And I was just using Grohl as a quick example. Wasn't comparing him to anybody or any band.

If you had lived in that era it would be different. It was a huge change of pace when it came to music at that time. It was redefining.

So more or it less it seems that you keep saying Oasis is a modern day version of the Beatles. Which leads me to, whats your point?

I'm not saying they're a "modern day version", I'm saying in my mind Oasis can be every bit as good as the Beatles.

                    Bingo!

Compare the Beatles early stuff like "I wanna hold your hand" which was fairly bubblegum pop to their later stuff and you'll see that they totally redefined pop music and shook it to its core. They were the vanguard for the entire British Invasion. If there was no Beatles there would be no Rolling Stones IMO.

Well the day finally happened, the first girl I fell for is now in a relationship with someone else. Time so finally close that door and move on, I know its going to be tough, but I am glad this happened. This girl is my best friend but I need to realize that that is all it'll ever be and finally move on. Closure, I needed this. I never thought I would be so happy about someone else being in a relationship.

I think that's the point, though. Oasis wouldn't exist if not for the Beatles. People today don't see the big deal about the Beatles because there have been 100 bands like them, but none before them. The Beatles brought something brand new and completely nailed it. It wasn't just their music either, the whole style (including the floppy hair).

I hear the same thing from metal fans who don't see the big deal about Black Sabbath, but without them today's metal might not exist.

I think it is very difficult for today's generation to really realize how massive the Beatles were and that as they expanded artistically so did their fanbase, which is essentially unheard of now. They were able to morph from a singles based, rockabilly-pop band into an album-oriented, always welcoming and trying new styles group. Not to mention the time-span all this change happened.

I personally could give two ****s for Oasis. None of their stuff really sticks with me so I always see the Oasis and Beatles comparisons as pretty dumb. Nobody should be compared to The Beatles, IMO. Just like no other guitarist should be compared to Jimi Hendrix. They were just on another level at the time in music and really Oasis has no footing there.

Minus the part about her being my best friend, this also happened to me the other day.

I've tried moving on multiple ways from this one girl and yet nothing ever really cemented it in. Since I found out she's with some new guy [who, by the way, looks the stereotypical college-aged douchebag] I think I'll be all set.
