Re: Off Topic 2010
I love being an offensive lineman.
Last night went out to an all-you can eat buffet with the rest of the cattle.
Woke up, went to the meeting was greeted with doughnuts and gatorade.
Got 3-4 Oreo Balls from one cheerleader.
Got a huge slice of cake from another.
And it's not even 10:00 yet.And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

All we got from the cheerleaders when I played was muffins, fruit snacks, and occasionally popsicles.I love being an offensive lineman.

Sigh.....this society is too soft nowadays. School kids with no AC, oh no what are we going to do ????? LOL
Seriously I grew up with no ac in the classrooms. Hell my parents didn't even buy an AC for our apartment until I was like 9 years old. And guess what ? When it was 2 feet of snow on the ground and -20 schools were still open.
Guess now people are gunning for heat days, like they got snow days. The irony of it all is I gurantee you all those parents that are whining, during the summer I bet their kids were outside playing in that heat ALL DAY.
Just like snow days, when people claim it is too much snow and too cold for kids to go to school. Where do kids be at when schools be closed on those days ????? Outside playing in it.Comment

There are more health effects known about heat and different issues it can cause now more than you were growing up. Heat stroke can be deadly, especially to elementary school kids (who start at 5 years old). I do like the ways they are trying to combat the heat, however, ice and cold water can only do so much when you're inside of a school that has stagnant air with a rising temperature all day.
I have an issue with the irony that you're pulling up: kids can play outside for a while, but they can always head inside to the cool air to make sure that they aren't going to overheat. There's almost no chance that the kids can cool off when they need to except for drinking cold water.
The snow issue is completely different. Often times, schools are closed because the roads have too much snow on them, which means buses and the like can't get to places where kids need to be picked up. I don't know who is saying that it's too cold for kids to go to school, unless the heating system gives out, and is a valid reason for not making kids come to school.Rose City 'Til I Die
