    OS Book Club Pt II

Fantasy western, intertwined with supernatural real modern world.

    That makes no sense. Sorry.

It's mainly set in the main-characters version of Earth, but the story jumps from that world to the Earth we know and back. It's kind of an alternate-reality type thing that goes back and forth.

It also incorporates a bunch of King's other works, sometimes just as lite Easter eggs, an other times full characters coming over, etc. Plus a real, real cool "twist"/character in the last few novels.

It's an awesome series for the craft, as well as the story. I read books 3-7 in a matter of weeks this summer in a row because I didn't want to stop. I was real sad when it ended because I didn't want to leave that world or the characters.

Just finished "14" by Peter Clines. Would recommend it. I read it in about a week, was 500 Pages on the iPad. The last quarter was a tad boring but wasn't hard to finish. Its about a guy who moves into an apartment and there are a lot of weird mysteries about the place. Sort of has a Lost vibe to it.

I read Blong Song and it's a very good fantasy book. In some ways it's similar to the Name of the Wind (story told to chronicler, coming of age story and a couple of other things) but it's a lot more action packed and is a warrior's tale without question. The main character is pretty cool. This is also a trilogy with the second book coming out next year.

Have any of y'all read House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski? It's my favorite book and I'm trying to find something similar.

One day I'll finish the Game of Thrones books. I'm on book 3. I would like to be at least caught up by the time the next one drops, if ever.

Is that Feast for Crows? I struggled finishing that one, it took some effort to focus on it.

It picks back up after that one though.

Just picked up a couple books. Reading list for the holidays, in a rough order:

                  House of Hades
                  The Fault in Our Stars
                  The 5th Wave
                  To Kill a Mockingbird
"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric Byrnes

My resolution is to read at least 2 books a month. I'm starting with the Song of Ice & Fire series. We'll see if I can read the first two in January.

House of Hades was good. Onto John Green's The Fault in Our Stars. Really, really well written.

I'm 1/2 way through Texas by James A. Michener. I like how he mixes fictional characters into the history. I also enjoyed Alaska and Centennial, the latter being my favorite book of his.

I got this from my Dad for Christmas yesterday. He's already read it before and told me how good and informative it is. I actually watched a documentary last month on a lot of what is discussed in this book. Once I'm finished the book I'm currently reading, this one is next.

Finally puts all the conspiracy theory crap to rest in my opinion.
