And yes, if you could tell by my list - these are all movies I've never seen that I want to read first.

Trying to decide what to read next between these three options:
A Great Gatsby
Galapagos
A Brave New World
I've read Gatsby and BNW, but that was in high-school about 10 years ago.

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
Man, this thread makes me realize how long it has been since I've read for fun. I have a backlog of Dostoevsky and Tolstoy to read some year and it is my goal at some point to read Crime and Punishment in Russian, but that is a ways away. The Bourne Identity is probably the last book I remember reading that wasn't for school or research. I never got far enough into The Bourne Supremacy.Comment

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
I've only been reading in bed before I pass out. I don't have a ton of time so it has been pretty light reading to just fall asleep to. Will have to save the heavy fiction for holiday time.
Just finished Bret Hart's bio which was interesting. That family, oh dear. About half way through Jericho's first book which is great as well.Comment

Should be finishing up "IT" tomorrow or Friday, hopefully tomorrow so I can say I finished 7 novels (roughly 3500 pages worth) in one month/31 days.
That'd just be an awesome accomplishment I believe, and would put me 3 books ahead of my 1 and week pace for the year.
Got about 160 pages left. Wish me luck.Comment

Brave New World came yesterday. Hoping to start it later tonight or this weekend. The last time I read it was in middle school.

Swan Song (top 3 of all time)
Lucifers Hammer
Nueromancer (Tough read, but WAAAYYY ahead of its time)
2001 and 2010: Odyssey (And maybe 2051, 3001 is just scfi porn)GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
Finished IT with time to spare tonight (and already started another novel - "In the Lake of the Woods" by Tim O'Brien).
January's count - 7 books (roughly 3500 pages). Averages out to just over 100 pages a day. I'll take that pace.Comment

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
It usually takes me around 2-3 hours to finish a 200-300 page book.
I guess I just have difficulty absorbing the fact that it takes some people weeks to finish books they enjoy.
I read the last Harry Potter book in one day.
I also just read A Memory of Light (the last Wheel of Time novel) in one day as well.
Those are both 800+ page books.
I also finished 4 books in the Anita Blake series in one day (200-300 pages each).
Meh, I guess I'm not normal.Last edited by DukeC; 01-31-2013, 11:06 PM.Comment

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
I could read a Harry Potter book in a day, but no way could I read say Game of Thrones in a day though the lengths are comparable.

Yup - I think I read the last few HP books in a day each, but IT took me a week-plus. Power of material/writing style has a lot to do with it.Comment

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
Finished my 5th book of the year last night/morning. I got 2 more checked out at the library, and will try to get them done over the next week or so.
It was called Hidden Empire, by Orson Scott Card, and it was a sequel to a book I read last year I didn't even know existed.
My mom reads more books than anyone I have even seen before though. I swear she has already read about 50 books this year. It's crazy.Last edited by redsrule; 02-02-2013, 01:46 AM.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals
