How's your college experience so far?

Hey, OS. Haven't posted in a long time. Mainly because of my classes and the whole adjusting to college thing. Just wanted to start up a thread where people can talk about their classes and maybe support one another if they need it (sounds corny, but whatever).

I'll start off. I'm a freshman majoring in Nursing, btw. The classes are alright. So far, it doesn't seem too difficult but I already found myself a lot in the library doing a lot of reading. I struggled in high school with my science classes, and obviously that'll prove to be a problem for me seeing that nursing is a science major. I'm taking Bio, Bio lab, Chem, and Chem lab. But overall, enrolled in 7 classes.

The whole adjusting to college thing is a little difficult for me. There are a ton of girls in my school, us guys are outnumbered 2:1 in the ratio scale (~1,100 girls / ~560 guys). But I started off slow talking to the better looking girls so I only got like 1 hot girl's number (lol) and a couple OK ones. Was never great at picking up numbers... so I need to work on that. And the only thing I hate about my suitemates is that none of them are nursing/science majors so no one has as much work as me. They come home very late and stay up very late and make a lot of noise while I'm trying to fall asleep around 11P-12A.

Overall, it's not bad. My college experience is so and so after the first week. I'm at home now because I needed to buy a lot more things for college such as school supplies, things for the room, etc. I can see the workload becoming very overwhelming in the future and that's the thing that's making me the most nervous. But other than that, I'm just trying to take it one day at a time.

Thanks a lot for the encouragement, Jdurg. That really helped me feel a lot better about this whole thing. Sometimes it just brings me down cause a lot of my suitemates are bringing a lot of girls in and the girls I'm talking to are decent at best. Then when it comes to nights, they always come home late while I'm sleeping earlier lol. I'm trying to get a work study job at the library where I just sit there basically and can do my homework. Since I'm already there half the time. The hours they really need it for are 9P-12A (the library is open 24/7). I have class every morning (9AM - Philosophy - Mon/Wed/Fri; 8AM - University Seminar - Tue/Thurs).

And as for the drinking, I'm not used to throwing down money lol. I'm a professional bummer, so I have to get used to paying to drink every night. But I was thinking of just getting a bottle of something potent so that I don't need to keep spending money. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to pay more than $20, and I'm looking for something strong so I can get more buzzed with fewer shots.

Uneventful. I transfered to a new school and I live in a house about 20 seconds from campus so I can really only meet people I have classes with. I am a CIS major and everyone in my classes is your stereotypical WoW player. Hopefully start this job soon working as a student tech and none of these people work there haha. There is one fine girl in one I talk to and might be the hottest CIS major ever. I think I am gonna have to resort to talking to this hot fat chick and just branching off from there because she has roommates.

My classes are all pretty much spread apart for this semester and there's nothing I can do about it. So I'll just try to do as much homework in between classes as possible.

And I'm probably going to commute next year or stay at an apartment with a friend or two and split the rent. The housing is RIDICULOUS in my university. It's almost $15K a semester (or maybe it's a year, I'm not sure). But my mom was very open to letting me live by myself in an apartment because even if I live by myself, at least after I graduate, I'll have a little place for myself already.

That's what I'm hoping. I talk to these 2 or 3 not so attractive girls but I hung out with them and it was a pretty chill time. But they're not hideous, so it's not too bad. I'm hoping they start making more friends cause it seems like they don't have too many yet, and then I get involved in those parties they get invited to.

Pretty well, I guess. I have classes in the morning Monday-Friday, but have most days off until the evening, in which I have classes Monday-Wednesday. Truth be told, I probably need to buckle down and study more with my Chemistry 101 exam this Friday, but things have gone well so far.

I actually have quite a bit of HW to do tomorrow.

                    Couple of tips:
Get started with a good GPA (i know lots of people that dug themselves a hole fresh/soph years)
                    Get your study routine down
Stay away from credit cards (they literally give them away---a debit card should be all you really need)
Try not to double major in Chasing Tail (it's a fine minor though)

Re: How's your college experience so far?

Just started college a few weeks ago. Things are going well, besides my 2-and-a-half hour history seminar from hell, but that's only once a week. My Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays are great - I don't start until 3:00. But Tuesdays/Thursdays I have a killer morning class.

On the female front, I met this girl at convocation and we've been "studying" steadily since then. It's pretty casual right now but I don't want it to develop into anything more serious, so I'm not really sure what to do about that. Not that bad a problem to have I guess.
