What was your best sports performance ever?

We're all here because we love our sports gaming which means at one point, mostly all of us played ball of some sort.

What was your best sports performance? This is the time to puff out our chest a little bit!

When I was 16, a HS junior, I scored 56 points in a summer league AAU basketball game. I was on fire and for a big man (I was 6'5") I hit eight 3's and basically just dominated. It was at Gonzaga Team Camp in 1999. I also had about 12 boards and six blocked shots. I couldn't miss, so my coach told me to create my shot every time I got the ball. The cool thing? We played against Blaine, who had a point guard at the time named Luke Ridnour. I outscored him and we won in overtime.

Honorable mention goes to a ninth grade football game when I threw six TD passes, but that pales in comparison to the game I had that summer day.

I know this thread will end up being egotistical, but so be it. Let's hear about your best performances.

Re: What was your best sports performance ever?

I didn't take full advantage of my athletic potential, but I have a few. In 4th grade I was such a chucker it wasn't even funny. I'd have some games where I'd make these crazy deep shots (for a 9 year old) and others where I'd do horrible. The one game I had all of our teams points, I think it was 16 or 18. I couldn't miss, but the rest of my team made up for it

Then in a summer league game the summer before my senior year...I remember I woke up like 10 minutes before we had to be down at the high school to leave, so I was rushing around like crazy and forgot to put my contacts in...get in the van with everybody, groggy as hell and in a horrible mood like I always am when I just wake up, thinking about how horrible I'm gonna play tonight. Plus my one friend was having a party after the game, so I just wanted to get this over with and go have fun.

We finally get there and I'm still out of it...get in the game, and then I start playing out of my damn mind. I was making passes I never usually made, getting steals left and right, it was crazy. I only played like 8-10 minutes but ended up with around 5 assists, 4 steals, and 2 rebounds. Scoring some points would've made it better...I think I got one shot up and that was it, but still my best overall game ever.

Re: What was your best sports performance ever?

Playing Jr. Legion baseball, we were playing a team that kicked our ***es both times they played us before.

In my first at bat I work the count full, and I get a middle-away pitching belt high and I made solid contact. As I was running, I see the centerfielder springting backwards and when I was about half way to 2nd I see him crash into the wall at full speed, breaking his face. He had to leave the game and I'm sure go to the emergency room to get stitches. Centerfield was 380, and this was well over the wall so I'm guessing it was close to 400ft.

In my 2nd at bat I line a ball hard down the right field line, but a great play by the right fielder prevented me from getting 2.

3rd at bat, last inning, our team down by a good amount, I take the first pitch I see way over the right field wall

      Ended 3-3 with 2 HR's and a single (should have been a double )

Guess how many hits our team had? 3 (Three)

      Honorable mention:

We were playing a baseball tournament in Hershey, and this was the semi-final game and our 2nd of the day. We were up by 6, and since our coach wanted to save our potential pitchers for the possible championship game, he put me into pitch. Now I'm no pitcher, but I have great stuff. I just can't really control it . Anyway, I get 2 quick outs and on the 3rd batter, the first pitch was up and in. Accidental. He stares me down like he wants to fight. So I say loudly, "If you're gonna stare at me like that, I'll strike your *** out" Or something along those lines. So the next three pitches? Strike one, strike two, strike three. Remember we were up by 6. So I get up with the bases loaded next inning, and on the first pitch I hit the furthest home run I have ever hit for the walk off (10 run rule )

In the championship game I homered in my first at bat

      Honorable mention #2:

I had just sprained my ankle badly in a school baseball game a few weeks prior, and was not really ready to play, but I still was "ready to play" if coach needed me. It was the first game of the Legion season, and a non-league game. (AKA doesn't really count, but it does) Well, coach yells from the coaches box "Hey Jonny, get a helmet on" and I'm thinking, "Oh God, I'm still walking with a limp, how am I going to go up there and not look like an idiot" Well, my thinking was to swing at the first pitch and hopefully put it in play to get the at bat over with. So on the first pitch, it was RIGHT down the middle, and I hit it a ton to right field, way over the right fielders head. The fence had no been put up yet, so it was a live ball (although it would have been out if there was a fence) So I'm hauling *** since it was my first appearance on the new team, and I legged out a triple on basically one leg. I felt no pain as I was running, but when I got to the bench at the end of the inning, man, the pain was bad.

I don't know if it was my best, but in HS football I played guard on offense. We ran a trap offense so I always pulled. I pulled off tackle and the back was behind me. There were 2 guys coming at us and they were close together, so I threw my body at them and took them both out. A double pancake. The ball carried went on to score a TD. It still amazes me to this day I was able to do that seeing as how I was the smallest and lightest lineman on the team.

One I am especially proud of was my first at bat with Kent State I hit a hanging curve ball up the middle for an RBI single. I also threw out 2 runners stealing that game.

          Lacrosse:
Junior year against Green Mountain I had 48 saves compared to 8 goals allowed. In the same game as the goalie I also had 2 assists on clears.

          Basketball
Playing on the same team with 3 kids who go onto become First Team All State makes things tough, but my best game was 10 points and about 15-16 rebounds.

          Football
I mainly played OL/DL so hard to say on the OL, but on the DL it was my sophomore year against North Country where I had 2 straight tackles where I shed the tackle and stood the RB on the goalline. On third down they ran to other side and scored, actually the rest of the game they ran the other way.......

My best hit though came in a preseason scrimmage against MSJ, no one had told me the QBs were yellow shirted for the game, so on the first play I threw the Tackle out my way and blindsided the QB in a way Bruce Smith would have been proud of and had the other team's coach storm on the field, grab my facemask and scream at me. All I said to him was "That'll teach him some pocket presence." before my position coach separated us.

I sucked in sports in HS. Had a pretty amazing game my freshman year in football. I played literally the ENTIRE game, offense, defense and all special teams. Oh the days when I was in shape. I think we lost like 38-7 though haha.

When I was 12 years old I played like a little girl the first half of our Super Bowl in Pop Warner football. I played on the Generals and our team was just amazing. In the second half I became another person. I had this incredible sack where I crushed the QB and knocked him out of the game. I then blew up a run where I pancaked a FB and then hit the HB so hard his shoe and the ball flew in the air.

My mom didn't get the video tape of the game because she was cheap! It was only $10!!!!!!!!!!!!

*However seeing the hit on tape might diminish the highlight in my mind, so maybe it's a good thing*

Re: What was your best sports performance ever?

My whole senior season in HS was pretty good. We won our section and I pitched very well all season. I was 14-3 with a 1.4-ish ERA, pitched almost 100 innings and got our team into the section championship with a 2 hit complete game against our league rival. I then picked up my final win of the season in the frist game of a best of three series against Dustin Pedoia's Woodland HS team.

In college, I threw a 1 hit shut out, losing the no-no with one out in the final inning on a ball that the hitter told me was a foot foul. It wasn't a very dominating performance as I only struck out 2 and relied on our defense to make some tough plays that game.

In my final collegiate game, we were in the D-II National Championships and I was pitching out of pen. Our starter got tagged for 5 runs in the first 2 innings. I came in and pitched 6 2/3 scoreless to keep us in the game, but we ended up losing 5-2. I knew it would probably be the last time I ever pitched and had the most fun I've ever had on the mound.

Senior year basketball sectional finals, I scored 38 pts and we beat the #15 team in the state 66-62. I had 22 points in the 4th quarter, I was absolutely on fire! This was in '91 way before class basketball started in Indiana, winning your sectional then was a big deal. We were huge underdogs, the opposing team had a 6'9" center who went on to play D1.
We were down big at the half and I was the only senior on the team. I just decided at the half that I was going to go out the second half and will my team to win.
We were down by 8 headed into the fourth when I just took the game over. I was 5 for 5 from behind the arc in the 4th and 6 for 6 from the line. I hit a 3 with 42 seconds left to give us our first lead of the game at 64-62. The other team held the ball for the last shot but missed with about 5 seconds left. I got the rebound and they had to foul me. I hit both fts to ice the game and they crowd wents nuts. A bunch of the guys from the football team carried me around the court for about 5 minutes. It was unreal, great times indeed.

My best sports performance ever must be in ice hockey. I scored a 2-0 goal for my team with a wrist shot, and then the opposing team took a 3-2 lead, I passed the tying goal and scored a 4-3 goal for my team. And, I was also great in defense, I intercepted passes, turned the puck over multiple times with a poke check or a stick lift, I also blocked like five shots in that game. My team won the 4-3. I've had few better games when looking at stats, but that is my best all-around performance.

                      Middle School tournament ball:

                      1) (Playing 3rd base/batting 5) With 3 or 4 games left in the season, we were out of the "division" Wild Card by 2 games (this was a legit league. we had like 3 uniforms. lol) It was a saturday, so it was a double header vs. the 1st place team. We went into extras in game 1, but lost 3-2. The 2nd place team luckily lost off a walk-off. So in game 2, we swapped "home/away", so it was our turn to be away. It was the bottom of the 6th and we were tied at 2 all when our pitcher walked 2 straight and one reached on a throwing error. He struck the next one out, and the very next play was a 6-4-3 DP to end it. Top of the 7th, I was batting 3rd with a runner on 3rd (IIRC, double and steal). I sacrificed him home to give us the lead. After that, we scored again and won 4-2. That monday, we won and the 2nd place team (playing the #1) lost, giving us the Wildcard (we didn't go by half games for some reason, I don't even know why).

So in the tournament, we're playing the #1 team from the other division, with no score in the top 7th (we only played 7 and extras only went to 12) there was a runner on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, and it was actually my best friend and nextdoor neighbor pitching. On the first pitch I saw, I laced it into left center, scoring two. The very next game, I hit my first grand slam in what must have been since T-Ball in the 6th. We won that game 6-1.

And then the Championship was 2/3, and in Game 1 we murdered them 7-0, with a 2-run HR from your truly and 2 6-4-3 DP's. Game 2 was tight, it was either 6-5 or 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th. Long story short, we had a single jack on the first pitch of the inning to tie it up. 2 guys K, and the guy in front me gets beamed and then steals (I wasn't exactly a deep-threat guy, it was random at best.) But I managed to get a hold of a curveball that somehow went passed the LF's glove. To this day, I still have no clue how he didn't catch it, because the walls are MAYBE 6 feet. But he didn't, and I got my only walk-off ever...and only championship in any sport i've ever played.

I don't have time to post my football one, but it isn't nearly as cool/dramatic as my baseball one.

And it's also worth noting that earned me my only all-star selection, where I went o-fer in 5 games.

Won three championships in hockey, twice as a player, once as a goalie. The championship we won when I was the goalie was in OT against an undefeated team who had beaten us two or three times that season, so we were all up. The celebration when we scored was what I'll remember, I got to center ice and tackled the crap out of the goal scorer. Also, remember making a huge save in the OT to keep us alive. I was locked in.

Won a dodgeball tournament when I had mono. I didn't know it at the time, though. I had been feeling ****ty for a month and like a week later I finally went to the doctor's and got it taken care of. Crazy looking back on it.

Threw 2 TD passes, kicked both extra points, ran a Punt back for a TD and had like 6 tackles and 2 passes defensed in a junior varsity football game when I was a freshmen in high school.

Well not my best performance ever but my favorite most memorable sporting event ever was my last year playing pop warner football before high school. The league was all 14-15 year olds. The high school I was going to was split up between 3 towns who all have different youth leagues. We beat one of those towns, and the other town who was our youth organization rival in every sport beat us down in the regular season 54-6 like mid way through the season and the rest of the way we dont lost a game ending 9-1. No matter what happened in the regular season I knew if we had to play this team in playoffs we would get beat down.

We both end up getting to the regional finals to play each other, and we have to go to their field which is a minute away from the future high school. It was about 20 degrees out at night. Before the game everyone is pumped where you had to do weigh-ins to play no more than 180 pounds. So at this time everyone yelling talking trash it was great.

The game started off with us kicking to them and they return it for a TD. As the quarterback my coach decides we were going to throw alot this game becuase they would be expecting run. I played like absolute crap first 3 drives because i couldnt feel my hands. The next drive I throw a 40 yard bomb for a TD. The next 2 quarters their isn't a score and then on our 2nd to last drive, I ran a QB sneak for a TD and where I ran into the endzone was the team that we would be playing in the championship and I just walked in and starred them down.

We ended up beating this team, and parents are singing "na na na na hey ayy good bye", parents and kids rush the field. Their had to be about 3,000 people at this game. Even HS Coaches and kids from the HS were there to watch and betting money on.

We make it to the championship and win 27-6.

When I was 9, and 6 months after I got hit by a car, I won the Ohio State Elks Hoop Shoot (free throws). You shoot 25 total, 10 and then 15 after everyone else shoots their 10 (in case some didn't know). I made 25 out of 25, as I was the 1st of 8 to shoot. So, a kid from Athens, who was bragging the day before about making 25 at the District Hoop Shoot, goes on to make 25 out of 25 as well. I thought I had it wrapped up after I didn't miss any. So we go to a shoot-off. We each shoot 5 and we knew if one of us missed it was over. I was the 1st to shoot these, and I made all 5. He goes next, drains the first 2, then rattles the next one in. I'm thinking, man, just miss this one. The next one he missed, and he was devastated, I was happy, you could say. I went 30 for 30, and got to go to Michigan to shoot next. I finished 3rd up there, as I didn't quite have it that day.

Honorable Mention: Playing at on a college court for a tournament when we were in 4th grade, so I was 9 or 10, I hit 8 three's in the game, however we still lost by like 12.
