Re: What was your best sports performance ever?

My basketball career in youth sports was the kid who would make it to final cuts everywhere trying out for the JV or Varsity team only to be one of the final cuts. So I was a rec. league all-star (PG).

My best game was when we were in the 2nd rd of playoffs one year going agaisnt a rec team in another school district (Western Branch). I had a big game, my best scoring game ever. I was in the zone, I remember the feeling like it was yesterday. The crowd was just an audible noise, and it was like in the movies where all you hear is the sound of your heart pumping and you breathing.

Don't remember my stat line. It had to be at least 18 pts, which was good for me since I was a pass-first PG.

I was 15 when I ran against the black box and clocked a 4.21 to be exact. I know I became faster from training but never ran an official time again.
What?! 4.21! Oh my word. That is insane!

Good for you. That would be fun as hell to have that kind of speed/explosiveness.

Hmm, my best performance? Not sure but...

The first time I beat my dad in one-on-one b-ball when I was 15. Honestly, not a lot of great performances by me in other sports, and that one is probably one of my favorite memories. I didn't just beat him, I made just about every shot I took, hit 5 threes in a row ending on a beastly lay up by me(I don't like to brag, but, it was beastly).

My dad and I played one-on-one A LOT, it was a blast, but I never actually beat the man until I was in high school. We play less nowadays, but even when we do, I struggle to beat him...I'm 20 and he's 44. He still kicks my butt, more times than not

Through out my short life (17 years) one moment stands out. When I was 15 i struck out 15 in extremely hot whether unfortunately throwing so much led to my current arm troubles but that day was well worth it as i was carving the other team up nearly untouchable.

Re: What was your best sports performance ever?

Only played futbol growing up, so I'll go with a few of those memories, despite the fact that 99% of you probably don't think soccer counts as a sport

-Indoor soccer one year, our town team was playing against the best club team in our area, which happened to have every single one of our "best" players from the town team playing on it. So it was basically our regular season bench with a few starters (myself at forward and a defender) Vs the rest of our starters and their equally talented club 'mates. We got killed, as we knew we would, but there was a play where our entire team had pushed up and was around the goal, ended up missing a shot and one of the other teams players took the ball down the field towards our goal. No one on my team, sans myself, ran after him...but I sprinted the entire length of the field and ended up pushing him out of the way and taking the ball before he could get the shot off. That one play alone netted me two club offers, one from the opposing team's coach and one from another Club coach watching the game since his team was playing after ours. I turned them both down because I didn't like the idea of three more practices and another game a week on top of the Town Team's schedule.

-Second would be playing every single second of the second half in a game that kept our team alive in the hunt for the #1 seed in the post-season tournament. The two reserve forwards that usually subbed in for me started goofing around on the sidelines and our coach didn't like that, so he benched them and kept me in the entire second half. I was sucking wind by the end of it, but everytime I looked over for a quick break he shook his head and said 'no.'

-Third would probably be scoring in the finals of a Memorial Day tournament where we only had 10 players due to a baseball tournament on the same day taking the other seven. The ten of us played every second of the semis and finals that day and I ended up scoring from the sweeper position on a forward run and the second on a penalty kick that my dad, the coach, made me take. He recently told me this was the most proud he has ever been watching one of his children play soccer, so this once means a lot to me.

And on a less serious note to go along with the above post, I once picked off a toss play in a school-yard recess football game for a touchdown. That was pretty badass.

Re: What was your best sports performance ever?

Varsity tennis, Junior year HS. We play best of 3 sets. I was barely clinging to the #3 singles spot on my team, but our coach kept me there for Regionals at #3 instead of dropping me to #4. I was killed the week before against a kid on our own courts in straight sets.

We needed a certain amount of wins to earn enough points to advance to State finals. I'd easily won my first game of the tournament against a kid from a school that really shouldn't have had a tennis team (our JV team usually beats their varsity).

So our #1 doubles team is expected to easily win the whole regional, they were undefeated during the season. They lost in semi's, leaving us 1 win short of qualifying for state finals, and I'm matched up in the #3 singles semis against that same damn kid that killed me on our courts the previous week, and I'm the last team member still playing. So based on the result of this match my school either goes to state finals, or goes home...

He crushes me the first set 6-1, I'm not feeling confident at all. My coach finally made it over and told me what happened during that #1 doubles match, and all the rest of the guys from the team come over and watched, rooting me on.

It took a turn in the 2nd set when I was down 3-0. Something just happened to his game, it wasn't like I suddenly emerged from depths ala Hulk Hogan or something, the kid just couldn't hit the court if I kept the rally alive long enough. The set went into tiebreaker that I won 8-6 (winning the second set 7-6).

So the third and final set I realized I'd figured out how to beat him, and just kept the point alive with long rally's until he screwed up, and I ended up smoking him 6-0 in the last set! He was totally gassed! It was awesome. We went to state finals and got killed (lol).

Kinda sucks my best sports moment came in tennis.

Re: What was your best sports performance ever?

Basketball-I scored 14 points in a 2 minute span during my freshman year of HS, hitting 4 threes and 2 free throws. I didn't score any other points the rest of the game.

Baseball-I threw a one-hitter with 15 Ks when I was 15. As a hitter, I'd say it was when I hit a HR and a double with 5 RBIs in the State Tournament as a 12 year old.

Football-In HS, as a junior I had 25 total tackles from LB, including a few TFLs and knocking out a WR on a slant pass with under a minute left as they were driving for a potential winning score. In college, it was easily my 6 solo tackle, 3 assist, with 3 TFLs performance as a senior from the DE position.

What's funny about my best football performances is that I had better stats in a couple other games, but they probably weren't my best performances (in HS I had a 12 solo and 8 assisted tackle, with 4 TFLs game - 1 solo tackle away from a school record, but I had been sick from the flu and missed a few series and didn't really play well at the end of each half...and in college I had a similar game with 2 sacks and another TFL, but I had a terrible fever and was playing at about 75%. I could have had another 2-3 sacks had I been healthy going against the OT I faced that game).

I loved sports, but sucked at all of em.

I don't have a best performance, more like a most memorable moment:

Little League ball. I think we were down by 2, last inning. I went into the game as the last hope for our team.I hadn't played all game long... I remember two on and two outs.

I hit a pitch and the next thing I knew, it went over the right field fence for a three run game winning HR.

For that one day, I was a hero..I got the treatment as well: Mobbed at home plate, and my coach put me up on his shoulders....after that, I never got another hit, and quit the sport the following summer.

Today, when I watch the LLWS, it brings back that lone memory for me.

Best by result alone was my first wrestling dual meet in 6th grade, it was my first year wrestling I pinned my guy in under 20 seconds. It was awesome as I just tossed him to his back with a head and arm throw that landed with a smack, squeezed a bit and it was over.

I had an amazing b-ball game in my freshman HS year. 22 pts, 20 reb, 10 ast, 3 stl, 2 blk, 9-11 FG plus the game-winning 3.

Then in my freshman HS year, as a WR, I caught 4 TD passes in one game. I had this one unbelievable catch where I did a 360 in the air and snagged the ball with my right hand (I'm a lefty). People were doing all this talk about my mad hops and stuff and I just let 'em talk. What had really happened was I messed up. I jumped WAY too early and the CB hit me in the legs at an awkward angle that ended up turning me and the ball was fixin' to sail over my head so I extended and caught it one-handed and then proceeded to fall into the endzone.

Since my buddy (Zinger) doesn't come on much anymore. I will tell you his greatest sports moment. He gave up back to back homeruns to Todd Helton and Larry Walker in a spring training game when he played for the Angels.

Hope he doesn't read this lol.

But seriously, he did strike out Pujols twice in a game. And also threw a no-hitter when he was playing with the Kanapolis Intimidators.
