I know exactly what you mean in that regards. It simplest of terms, and nobody can argue this with a straight face... they are being VERY selfish (owners and players) to their already well taken care of needs, and not even thinking about who is the backbone to their success and paychecks (us fans) and definitely not showing any concern for the well being of the "middle class" and "lower middle" class that is employed by the leagues and teams, that will suffer and not be able to put food on their table.

As far as the recession side and special skills thing the same things spills over in normal society. If you have a skill that society deems "special" whether that's athletics, or ability in a job that society deems "important" you're probably going to end up with a lot of money. It's not that much different. Same thing as far as the low number of people that can get in. It's not really this absurd system that people think it is.My latest project - Madden 12 http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043231648Comment

Re: Any more lockouts and I'm done.
That's kind of my question, too. I'm in the 40-50K range. I'm fairly young and support my wife and son. I have a mortgage that is very manageable and don't have any car payments. We live within our means and yet, times are tough. We can pay our bills and we do without the extras most of the time, but saving money has proven to be hard. Maybe I need to take a harder look at our finances. We're not broke, but sometimes it feels like it.
They don't worry about any of that. But I'd be lying if I didn't admit that some of these posts have made me see a bit of a different perspective, but not much has changed. I still don't think I could watch/support pro sports if more work stoppages are to occur.
I think the rich want to get richer because the idea behind the money changes. It changes from providing for your self/family to achieving a greater status. Once that richest people list gets ever closer and you get more opportunities to improve your status you take them. Also for some it could just be an accident. You get a lot of money so you burn it on stocks - your investments pay off and you get richer. My latest project - Madden 12 http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043231648Comment

Re: Any more lockouts and I'm done.
I never thought I would have to worry about this considering the NHL recently had a lockout. Now that Fehr has been hired a lockout in 2012 is bound to happen. I don't think I will come back after that one. I already came back after the first one, and the game is better, but I cannot stomach another one.
I will be a hockey fan but not an NHL fan. I'll watch other hockey where the players play to win and not for the money.
Honestly it's quite disgusting to me that millionaires have the guts to complain about salary. What's more disturbing is that players are willing to strike or have the owners lock them out just because their demands are not met. So much for playing the game they 'love'. They love it so much that they are willing to not play for a whole season?
I just can't believe that NHL players have the guts to allow another lockout to happen. My YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/gosjsharks14Comment
