Haha okay, It was because I re-read my post, and it did sound like I was one of those people who drives with snow all over their car.

Well I live in Alaska so yes I warm up the car.

<O</OFor my SUV I have auto start so I start that about 5 min before I go outside. Then I put the keys in the car and put the heater on high and clean off the car and by the time Im done with that the car is pretty warm.<O</O
        <O</O

For my truck I have an engine block heater.<O</O
        <O</O

Ive read that newer cars dont need to "warm" up but when its really cold outside its prob a good idea and I warm it up because I dont like driving an ice cube.

If it is a fairly new car you only need about a minute. It is more critical that the car gets driven gently until it gets to normal operating temp rather then driving like you are at indy right at the start.

I thought the thread was about letting that car warm up for the car's sake, not the driver's.

I say on the telely that it was better to warm the car by moving it instead of letting it sit. They also said letting it warm up 10-15 minutes was a major waste of gas.

It depends. If I'm at home I let it heat up. If I'm leaving a place like the store or school I'll just get in and go.

I only do it for my benefit, to let the inside of the car get warm.

                      And yes....

For the sake of the car? Nah, just don't beat the piss out of it until it warms up a bit.

For my sake? Not usually, hats and gloves exist for a reason.

For my kids sake? Yes, if it's really cold.

If there's been freezing rain, definitely, that **** can be impossible to scrape off.

I've been starting my car for the past two weeks. I tend to start it and let it sit for ten minutes. This also helps when there is snow/ice on my car because it's easier to scrape off. I feel like my car runs smoother when I warm it up first rather then running and just going.

yeah, only old cars should be warmed up and if u do, all u really need is a minute or 2. anything more and ur just wasting gas.

                              just dont speed early on.

I'm guessing I spend more money on gas during the winter. Cars have to work a little harder to go when it's cold outside.
