Yup...you're not competing for anyone's attention, so you lose some motivation. Kind of like a defending champion who comes back the next season not quite as hungry.

I still need to buy some dumbbells. That would help me out tremendously.

Have a shopping spree on Craigslist. You can find a lot of good exercise/weights equipment on there pretty cheap from people who are just trying to get rid of it.

Good call, I'll definitely check it out.

I am looking to get P90x and a Bowflex, and with what I've found so far, I'll spend less than $350 doing it.

The Bowflex was used twice in a year and the P90x is still in it's factory packaging.

            Tough to beat that.

              Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

I am due to weigh-in this coming Tuesday... I was 263 when I started two weeks ago and I just started lifting last night. I have to keep it going, but I can definitely feel my clothes fitting differently. I'd guess I'm at around 255 right now, mainly from cleaning up my diet. I am eating around 2,000 calories per day.

My goal is still to be at 230 by June 25, 2011. It shouldn't be hard to do if I stay focused.

By only weighing myself twice a month, I am taking the pressure off of myself. I tend to get down if my weight fluctuates too much. I'm trying to focus more on how I feel and the noticeable results I'm seeing and it works for me.

I think i need to start doing that. I weighed myself yesterday morning and I hadn't lost anything this week despite being flawless with my diet and exercise routine and then just out of curiosity i weighed myself again this morning and I was 1kg (2.2lbs) lighter.

A nice little read for people (like me) who struggle to get up early in the morning to do their exercise.

I've always been an early riser, but working out early hasn't always been easy. It's tough to get the body moving at 5:30am to get a decent workout in before I head to work. However, if I want to workout, I have to get up early as I have no idea when I'll be home and was missing way too many workouts because of this.

With that said, working out in the morning has really given me a lot of extra energy throughout the day. I also feel like my concentration throughout the day is higher...I have less "zoning out" moments. I also have noticed that it seems like my metabolism gets a kick start in the morning due to working out...I get hunger cravings by 10am and I'll eat an apple at that time. Same thing around 3pm. When I wasn't working out in the morning, I never got those cravings so I'm able to eat 5-6 smaller meals during the day which is healthier.

LOL... I just read his earlier post. Sounds like the 5-6 meals per day is a myth.

But it does work and if it works for you then that's all that matters.

I think the more smaller meals in a day idea is beneficial because it helps drive down your overall daily caloric intake. So instead of skipping breakfast, being starved by lunchtime and going to McDonald's for a Big Mac, Fries, Coke, and ice cream, you eat small snacks during the day so you don't overeat at lunch time.

I weighed in at 203 pounds on Monday when I did my biometric screening for our health program at work. My goal is 180 pounds by June, and to be a LOT stronger (I haven't done any resistance training since I lifted as part of our basketball program in high school, 6-7 years ago). I play tennis and basketball and am hoping to get in better shape so I can play at a higher level.

I started the Power 90 program last Saturday and have enjoyed it so far - I think it is a great place to start for beginners. There's no way in hell I could have done P90X, as I could probably only do 2 pullups/chinups at this point. I'm cutting alcohol and sweets out completely - tough at first but I really don't need those things to enjoy my life.

Keep up the good work everyone, it is nice to be able to share tips and experiences here.

Lol just sharing some info i had found. People should do what they think will work best, there's not "right" way to do it just what works best for you. Oops i see you got hit with the ban hammer. Another one bites the dust.

                                Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

I'm looking to lose a good 7 to 8 pounds right now. I'm trying to get down to at least 170 but of course its getting more difficult with age. I'm currently floating around 179 to 183 on a daily basis and that **** is just being stubborn.

I'm around 5'6 5'7. 180 is ****in unsatisfactory in my line of work man. I dont know if I'm going to be able to hit 170 again. Some of this extra weight is probably a little bit more muscle. I'll probably be able to hit 175 though.

I currently bang out max 1 hour and 15 minutes gym time on a daily basis. Sometimes I'll take 2 days max off. 30 minutes jump rope or road work with 30 minutes of weight training and about 10 to 15 minutes in the steam or sauna.

My eating habits aren't horrible but I could be more discipline. Try to wait for the weekends to bother with any kind of take out food, but I'm finding that as I age even those 1 or 2 days eating crappy are having a major effect on me. I need to cut down on the jack and cokes too along with the cigarettes.

Pizza I limit to once per month. Soda is out of the question (except my jack and cokes lol) and I dont eat much red meat anymore. Chicken and fish for me, but I like it fried on occasion which of course makes it worse.

                                I'm getting there though.
