Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I'm still hovering around 270, worked out 3x this week, hopefully will be able to work out 4-5x next week.
Had an awesome feeling. Walked into an Old Navy last night and for the first time in forever I fit into a pair of jeans and a t shirt (XXL). They were 42's but fit a bit big in the waist. Hopefully I can get down to a 36" at some point, but I'll work on 40". I'm probably 41" right now.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I was little frustrated since I haven't been able to break over 12 pounds off my weight in a month and actually gained some weight this week but I been taking pictures of my progress and I'm definitely smaller,my arms are toned up a bit and have taken a notch off my belt. Maybe I'm gaining muscle weight but not sure.
I been lifting every other day and I immediately drink whey protein after.
It's also been officially 1 month since I quit eating beef/poultry/pork. I've also only missed 1 day where I didn't juice veggies/fruit. I just recently been to the Doctor and all my numbers are down, normal blood pressure (used to be high), lower points in cholesterol and my blood sugar is normal.
I still have high cholesterol but my dr is so impressed what I've done in a month that he thinks the next time I see him I should be golden.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
What kind of aerobic exercising do you guys do? I'm getting to the point where I want to exercise a little bit on my non-weight lifting days and do something that's more energetic and not as "heavy" as lifting. I'm not much on running (it really bores after about 20 minutes). We have a recumbent bike, but that gets old too. I was thinking about some kind of aerobic "martial arts" type work out if there is one.

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
33 days since I last ate poultry/beef/pork (I eat alaskan salmon or tuna for meat) and started eating/juicing a lot of organic vegetables everyday. I can't say enough how much this has turned around my health. Not only I dropped Psoriasis medication, my blood pressure is healthy and my dr dropped that as well as my blood sugar has been excellent. My next goal is to get off diabetes meds for good and be med free.
Since giving up meat, I still fell into eating veggie pizza a couple times last month, bread and desserts I shouldn't have had but this month I'm going to focus on cutting out a lot of bread/cheese. I will still have about a fist full of rice. I've lost 14 pounds so far but I think I slacked a bit in the gym so I will dedicate this month to at least going 4 times a week.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Awesome work for sticking with it Mike, just imagine where you'll be in 12 months!
I still haven't missed a morning workout in ages, something just clicked in my head and when the alarm goes off at 5am I get up and workout like clockwork. I've always had problems with staying consistent and falling off the wagon but not any more.
The only problem is when I'm scheduled to have a day off my body still thinks it should be waking up at 5 or 5.30am and I simply can't sleep in even if I go to bed late. Not a big problem, just means I have more hours in the day.
On a sort of related note I've just applied to do my masters in clinical audiology and I honestly feel like I can attribute a large portion of doing that to my morning workout program. For some reason the discipline permeates all area's of my life and helps with my self belief that I will be able to get through the 2 years of full time study on top of running a business + family commitments with a wife and daughter with another baby on the way. I'm gonna need more hours in the day so getting used to sleeping less is probably a good thing!Comment

Ok guys, been trying out my own sort of diet for 2 weeks now. Been regularly playing tenis, cut soda out and am drinking those Vnergy water things from my store(Wies). I'll take w photo. Also got Salad mix and some of the pursue ready cook chicken with low fat shredded cheese. No fat French dressing with it. Mixed all that up and been using that as my snack. Also trying to eat a orange and banana 1 time a day as well. I got the light and fit yogurts to eat occasionally. I also found out to my surprise that pickles only contain 1 calorie, needless to say I eat some of them as well.
Overall I was 230-240 when I weighed myself last. Probably was like a month ago. I weighed myself 2 days ago and was down to 121.34. I was so happy. Lol.
Here's a pic of the drinks I been drinking:

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Had a buddy at the gym with me last night. First time in a long time that I had someone with me while I was working. My body is letting me know how much harder I work with someone there with me. Hoping my job doesn't include much heavy lifting today.PSN - RedSea_RouchComment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
The goal, for me, is to lose at least 50 pounds and KEEP IT OFF.
Today was a real tough one at the gym. Started my work outs, which are almost entirely aerobic, on Monday. Monday and Tuesday were surprisingly easy, but holy hell, today was when it all hit me in full force. My legs felt like they were made of cement and I was soaking through my clothing.
Usually, the old me would say, that's it. Even did stop to catch a drink of water, but kept going. Now to be fair, this is a fitness center, so the bike that I'm on is pretty...high tech, I guess. Anyway, I'm proud to say that I said "**** it, it's time to be serious about this" and pushed my *** for another 10 minutes on that bike trip to hell. After getting through that initial mental block, I felt my second wind pick up and managed to finish the entire training.
To some, what I just said wasn't very impressive, but this is probably the first time in my workout life that I actually broke through that mental barrier. And it felt good, real good. Damn good. I think I sweated more today than I have my entire life. But I felt good, felt like I accomplished something good and my body feels better for it.
I already feel better. Little sore, but I can already notice that everything feels...I guess, lighter? Not sure how to explain it, but a good workout can really limber you up.
Gotta get back tomorrow. I'm still way too far away from where I should be and I feel it affecting my self esteem. But for the first time ever, I feel like I can really reach my goals. Hope to keep you all updated!Too Old To Game Club

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Yeah the more you push your boundaries the quicker you will improve, good stuff!
I read something interesting that for every 10lbs of muscle you add to your frame you body will burn between 500-700 extra calories per day just by being alive.
I'm (like a lot of people) not a big fan of working legs (not very 'hardcore' of me but I hate barbell squats) but considering well over half of your muscle mass in found in your lower body it makes sense to work it if you like to eat.
I LOVE to eat big so adding muscle is really the only way I can consistently eat the volume I want and still look good. I run a lot so I have to try not to overdo it on the legs but 1 x per week is plenty for me (I lift 6 days per week now) to get decent gains so I'm sticking with that.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I only do two leg work outs. I'm not sure what more I can do with free-weights. I do extensions and curls and that's it.
