Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Two weeks and 10 pounds later. I was at 280 now at 270. Haven't missed a day of juicing veggies (at least once but most days twice a day) and I've gone days without eating meat including fish and been juicing and eating nuts and soy.
I'll be getting Salmon soon from Alaska so no way I'm saying no to that. The best part is that I've stopped taking my medication for my severe psoriasis. I take the highest form of medication where I have to inject myself with a med and it helps make it go away but it lowers my immune system and I would average one a month being sick.
The meds has not cleared up my legs very well for the past 2 years of taking it. It's now healing on its own and the rates its going its going to clear up in a month.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I tried some, cant remember the brand, but it was $35 or so. Tasted like grass and I didn't notice any difference as far as health benefits to be honest. Doesn't mean it wasn't working but I couldn't tell, so I stopped taking it.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Yeah the one I have was about that price and it says it'll last me a month or so. You mix it with water and it tastes like crap. It's supposed to have a heap of micronutrients etc but i'm probably better off just making sure I eat a fair bit of fruit and veges rather than spending money on this stuff but I'll give it a month and see how I go.
I have posted in the Insanity thread I had to give that program a break for a while. All the jumping was giving my ankles and shin's hell and I could barely walk because of shin splints so I have gone back to a more 'normal' routine. I walked the dog for 30 mins yesterday after work and then I got up at 5.30am this morning and did a 40 min chest workout.
I love getting the workout's done in the morning so I'm going to try setting my alarm for the same time (5.30am) every day, even on the weekends for a month to see if my body can truly adjust to getting up that early every single day.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I love early morning work outs as well...
Seems to me I have so much more energy for the rest of the day when I do!Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Yeah same. The VERY hard part for me is when the alarm first goes off and I have to will myself not to turn it off and go back to bed for an hour but once I'm out of bed it's all systems go and I feel great all day when I do.
Plus it means if things get busy later in the day with work / family commitments etc I have already done the workout for the day so I don't miss workouts.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I'm the exact opposite. I love working out late at night. Nothing like a run with the stars out at night. Then I come home, shower, have some protein, watch a little TV or play some PS3, and go to sleep. It's a great routine for a night owl like me.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I prefer to do my workouts in the morning. I wake up, get it out of the way, and go on with my day. Plus I have more energy for the rest of the day and feel great. If I try and workout in the afternoon or evening I'm more prone to not doing it because I keep putting it off.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I guess like most things we are all different and have to find works best for us and our schedules. Doesn't really matter when you do it just that you do it.
I was up at 5.30am again today (saturday here). Had a nice back workout then went for a run. I was only planning on doing a pretty short run because I've had bad shin splints lately but once I got out there i was just really flowing along and it almost felt effortless. I ended up running non stop for 30 mins at a fairly decent clip and it felt great. I now have to try my best to avoid eating too much of the blueberry baked cheesecake my wife is making later today so I don't undo all my hard work. Being married to a good cook is a double edged sword.
A few motivational youtube clips i thought were pretty cool:

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
My hernia is now fully healed and I am able to start working out, lifting weights, running and exercising again. I put out an open challenge on my Facebook feed that I will lose 30 pounds in the next 90 days and will give 2 to 1 odds on me achieving that goal. I had a few friends of mine take me up on the offer (several for small amounts, a few for medium amounts and one for a large amount) to help motivate me and I think it will work.
This will be my diet/exercise plan for the next 90 days:
Breakfast from Monday through Saturday:
One bowl of Kashi Go Lean cereal with Silk Original soy milk
One Yoplait Plain Greek yogurt
One Thomas' whole wheat bagel with one tablespoon of organic sugar free peanut butter
Total calories: 900 - Protein level: 60 grams
-
Lunch on Monday/Wednesday/Friday:
Protein shake made with 1.5 cups of Silk Chocolate soy milk and 2 scoops of MetRX chocolate protein powder
Total calories: 400 - Protein level: 55 grams
-
Lunch on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday:
One organic side salad with Kale, Carrots and Tomatoes with organic ginger dressing
One glass of fresh Carrot/Celery juice
Total calories: 200 - Protein level: 5 grams
-
Dinner from Monday through Saturday:
One Subway footlong veggie sub with pepper jack cheese and all veggies minus pickles and cucumbers with light oil and vinegar dressing
Total calories: 650 - Protein level: 25 grams
-
Sunday meal plan:
Eat anything I want as long as it does not contain any sugar, isn't fried and does not exceed 2500 calories
-
I eat breakfast at 8:00 am everyday.
I eat/drink lunch at 12:00 pm everyday.
I eat dinner at 4:00 pm everyday.
I go to bed at 1:00 am every night and wake up at 8:00 am every morning.
-
On Monday/Wednesday/Friday I left weights from 11:30 am until 12:00 pm.
My routine (using 25 pound dumbbells for all exercises) is as follows:
100 hammer curls (50 per arm):
50 overhead triceps extensions (25 per arm):
50 shoulder shrugs:
25 flat chest flies:
50 flat chest presses:
I immediately drink my protein shake upon completing my weightlifting routine.
-
On Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday I do cardio from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
My cardio regiment is as follows:
I do 15 minutes on an exercise bike. 5 minutes slow paced, 5 minutes medium paced and 5 minutes fast paced.
I do 100 crunches in sets of 25.
I do 100 squat thrusts in sets of 25.
I immediately eat/drink my lunch upon completing my cardio routine.
-
On Sundays I rest by body and just relax.
-
I also drink nothing but bottled water throughout the day and consume no sugar or alcohol of any kind. I do allow myself 1 or 2 cups of black coffee (0 calories) a day, but I probably drink around six 16 oz. bottles of plain water a day.
Do you guys think I can complete my goal in 90 days if I stick to this routine?Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Looks good man, are you going to kind of keep a journal here as you go? I'm thinking of doing the same.
For me things have been going well. This morning was my 5th straight morning of getting up at 5.15am and working out. I have done at least 20mins of cardio every day straight after my workout except for today as I had to leave really early for work but I still go my lifting session in.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
55, if you stick to that routine and diet, I believe you would be able to do it in half the time.
So it looks like you are going vegetarian?
Good luck!Comment
