You are pretty tall aren't you Pete? Just curious why you are stopping at 280 when you seem to be losing so easily now that you have found a method that works for you?

I am not stopping at 280. I just broke down goals into more manageable segments. My first is 299 which is done, second is 280 which is high school graduation weight, third is 260 which is freshman weight, and then the last will probably be 230-245 or so..

I just recently was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I figure its time to start taking my health more seriously. My fasting sugar was 260 and the Dr. office 4 weeks ago. Since then I have completely changed my diet. I now monitor my sugar and carb intake. I pretty much have been staying in the carb range for diabetics. I have cut out almost all sugars. Except for the natural sugar in fruit.
I also no longer drink regular pop. Its all Coke and Sprite Zero now.

I went back to the Dr. this past Tuesday and found out I had lost 5lbs. And my fasting blood sugar was 107.

No to brag, but I am pretty proud of myself. I am just scared I will screw up. I am getting to the point where I am kind of obsessive about what I'm eating now.

weighed in at 204 on Sunday. I haven't been doing cardio at really the past few weeks, just working out my arms and i lost like 17lbs. kinda crazy. i think its important to watch what u eat calorie wise, but also if u do cardio, u need to eat those calories back. if not, u wont lose weight.

I wish. I will always have it. If I don't keep it under control by eating better and exercise my sugar will sky rocket again.

What really sucks is having to prick my finger twice a day to monitor my sugar.

As long as I keep it under control like it is now I won't have to go on medicine for it. My worst nightmare is having to shoot insulin.

damn. my dad does that like twice a week because he's borderline diabetes 2 and the tests are so expensive. hang in there bud. i could be wrong but from what i've read, it's mostly carbs that causes it.

Thanks man. You are right, carbs are the biggest issue. Well Sugar itself of course. But carbs turn into sugar fast. Especially the bad carbs that come from white bread, pizza, crust, french fries etc. This is why I only eat wheat bread and have stopped drinking regular pop. Fruit juices have high carbs as well but since they are natural carbs they are absorbed by your body easier.

oh yea dude...definitely. I'd stay away from fruit juice though...22g of sugar each serving can go quick.

I think causing too much of a calorie deficit hinders your weight loss. If you calculate your BMR and create a calorie defecit to lose #lbs/week, you should eat that restricted caloric intake and stick to it. i found that if i burning 300 calories but not eating those calories back, i wasnt really losing any weight. maybe like .6 or .8lbs

That is against the law's of thermodynamics. There are so many other factors that could influence scale weight so saying "I did this and I didn't lose much weight so therefore it doesn't work for anyone" is silly.

Sure your metabolism will slow if you starve yourself for a very long time but cardio in itself boosts metabolism so combining cardio + a calorie deficit is a win/win in terms of fat loss.

Lol I just noticed the two letter E and A are blocked out in the word b-e-a-s-t under my avatar. I wonder how long has that been a banned word?
