Well I hope you keep checking back with your results.

    ________

I stepped on the scale this morning and registered 219.4

That's a ~12lb drop since Monday morning. It's mainly water weight and a pound of fat I hope!

Now I want to drop ~2 lbs a week so I'll be down around 205 at the end. Day 7 or 8 I'll have the craziest desire for sweets...I might need to admit myself into a clinic to fight the urges!!!
Will do and I will step on the scale without all of my gear on to see where I am really at. I know I have already dropped some weight since I began running regularly since the 1st. I will weigh myself and take some measurements and photos before starting P90x this evening. Hopefully others like yourself check in with how you are doing.

If you are craving sweets, there is a good chance that you are spiking your insulin levels from either sugar or carbs such as corn, regular potatoes, white bread, ect. Take a good look at what is causing that. Since I have been eating clean I have not had the sugar cravings. Buy some natural peanut butter with the only ingredient being PEANUTS and then take a big spoonful which should help cut those cravings down.

I also cleaned up my previous post with the actual spelling of waist vs waste. In reality they are both the same.

Yeah which is another reason I'm trying to stay away from pure protein supplements like whey protein. Because it's packed with more protein then I'll most likely use, and I don't want to gain unnecessary weight.

I eat a lot of peanut butter, tuna, and nuts so I think I get a good enough of daily protein.

Well I've spent this week at home sicker than **** so my weight loss isn't progressing as I would have liked, but I still should lose some pounds this way. Silver lining I guess

          Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

1g of protein per 1lb of body weight is a decent rule to go by. Especially for you guys cutting weight. You want your body to hold on to as much of that LBM as possible to help continue to burn fat. You're going to lose LBM regardless on a cut, but you want to minimize it's loss by keeping protein intake at a reasonable level.

Protein shakes aren't bad....I think it's better to get the protein through actual food sources, but when you're cutting it can be kind of difficult to do, so they're nice to have around to meet daily goals.

I'll be joining in on this one in a couple of weeks. My birthday is January 23rd and I don't consider it the New Year or make any resolutions until then since I have to party on my birthday.

I'm 6'1" and around 230 lbs. right now and want to get down to 200-210 by the summer.

I am a vegetarian though, so keeping the carbs down and the protein up is a lot tougher for me than normal.

              January 6th 2011

              P90x DAY 1:

              Height: 5'-9 1/2"
              Weight: 201.4 lbs
BMI: 29% WOW That is Bad!
              Chest: 43 1/2"
              Left Bicep: 13 1/2"
              Right Bicep: 14"
              Waist: 43 1/4" OUCH!
              Left Thigh: 23 3/4"
              Right Thigh: 23 3/4"

Target: April 1st to cut my BMI by more than 1/2 and add muscle to every listed body part. Reduce the waist to 30".

Never really noticed that my chest is barely larger than my waist. I've lost muscle mass and gained a high amount of fat by not eating on many days. What I believed to be good as to my size is actually a reality check now that I see the REAL measurements. Going to begin P90x in two minutes.

The change begins now...............hopefully others will join me!

                Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

I really need to lose weight. Weighed myself and was 224 today. I was around 180 in August of 2008.

I mask my emotions with food, and the last two years have kinda blown ***....so....yeah.

I wake up late so breakfast is not much of an option for me. I try to cut corners when I can, but my problem is that I seemingly never, EVER get full. Honestly think there's some sort of problem with my cells signaling "hey, this dude's full".

It's the worst. I just had 25 pizza rolls and it barely registered a blip on the radar.

I try to get low fat cheeses, baked chips, lean meats, etc when I do my shopping.

Slam a 16 oz glass of water before you even think about eating anything, especially 25 Pizza Rolls.

Are you on any type of medication? That can have that side effect o never feeling full.

hey, i'm gonna jump in next week with some #'s after i join a gym. no scale at home.

anyways, getting married in 2 months so it's time for a little crash course to lose 10-15lbs. i am probably back to 215-220 (from 190).

already play hockey 1x/week and snowboard 2-3x/month, but need to drag my butt to the gym to ride the bike 1-2x/week.

anyone using a website/app to keep track of food and/or calories burned? there are a bunch...i signed up for Sparkpeople.com. there is also fitday.com, lose it.com and a few others. i went with Sparkpeople b/c it seemed to have the biggest online database of food, which makes it a whole lot easier to look things up rather than having to enter it in manually.

I mentioned this in the old thread before.

My wife and I have cut out all deli meats for about 18 months or so now. All our sandwich meats come from beef and pork roasts and roast chickens that we cook our self. So much less fat and sodium and you don't have all those preservatives either.

My resolution this year is to cut down on the consumption of Pepsi. I would drink about 2 cans of it everyday at least. Since Christmas I have not had a single drop. With that cut out plus exercising I have dropped 8 pounds already. I niot going to cut it out forever because that is unrealistic. Same with anybody that has a sweet tooth for chocolate and cookies, etc. You don't have to cut it out altogether you just have to have it in moderation.

Down 2 lbs to 228 this morning. The Wii Fit is pretty sweet. It keeps me pretty engaged during Cardio and when it calls for pushup reps I use the Perfect pushups.

I've got a pretty big weekends of eats coming up this weekend, but I figure if I excercise and stay away from the sweets, I will be able to hold without gaining this weekend.

I am just trying to lose about 5-10 lbs. I pretty much ate like crap and drank a lot of beer between X-mas and New Years. So this week, I really cleaned up my diet, (Egg whites/Chickent Breast/Oatmeal/Veggies) didn't drink any beer, ran 4 miles a day and lifted weights all week. Hopped on the scale this morning... didn't lose a signal pound.

Hopefully I lost some fat and gained some muscle.

I'm a big guy so my goal is a little higher than average. I started back in August at a biscuit over 300 lbs(ashamed to say) with a goal of losing down to 220 ( my weight when I got married over 10 year ago). Instead of calling it a diet I've just changed the way I eat. I almost never eat beef, white bread and I never do sweets of any kind no matter what. Well I did have 1/4 th of a Kit Kat a couple week ago. I haven't exercised a whole lot. Just try to shoot some hoops in the drive way 2 or 3 times a week when it's not freezing outside. Like several have said I am all about the water. I wake up and chug 2 20 oz cups of water 1st thing in the morning and try to hit 5-6 glasses a day. I also started taking a B vitamin everyday. My wife saw something about it helping on Dr. Oz. Can't really tell you but it hasn't hurt. Besides that I eat alot of Rice cakes( I actually like them) and apples through the day between meals to curb the hunger.

Glad to say that this week I dipped under 230 this week so over 70 pounds in just over 4 months!! Clothes are getting expensive. Small price to pay.

Wow! That's really incredible! I really related to your story because when I first decided to really make a lifestyle change last May, I weighed in at 303 pounds. It was deceptive, though - if you looked at me you would probably guess I was around 260-270 or so. But when I saw that number on the scale I knew I needed to make a change.

Like I said earlier though I lost sight of that goal so I am back on it. Seeing that you lost 70 pounds in four months really gives me hope that I can achieve myself! I have a series of long term goals, but the first one is to get down to 233 so I am no longer medically obese. That would be a loss of 46 pounds from my starting weight at the beginning of the year. I know I will be able to get there by the end of April if I follow my rules!

Went to the doctor last night and got a ****ton of medication for this. I've been laying around at home all week feeling miserable. Doc thinks it might be mono, and is definitely tonsillitis. I've been running fevers up to 103 degrees. So I am getting a late start to my exercise regimen, and am really just focusing on eating healthy. Luckily I have no appetite so it's not difficult at all right now.
