    Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

What are some of the things you all listen to while you're working out? I can't find anything that I like listening to while I run.

First day of eating better and working out. You can tell that my body isn't used to the new eating habit. I'll be going to the gym after work but I've been going for about a week now so my body is getting more used to it.

I don't really work out anymore but when I do I like listening to Death Metal. Idunno why but it gives me energy, probly the same effect it has on moshers.

Music selection depends on what body part I'm doing. If it's chest/back/legs I like heavier stuff like Lamb of God, Trivium, etc. If I'm doing arms or shoulders for some reason I like something heavy but with more of a groove to it like pantera, metallica, etc. I guess looking at it the heavier lifting days require heavier music.

Nice work fella's! How tall are you FF?

As for music i prefer heavier (for me) stuff like Metallica, Rage against the Machine, Killswitch Engage, Sevendust etc while I'm lifting and hip hop (Kanye, Eminem, J Cole, Wale etc) while I'm running or doing cardio. I just find I can zone out to the beat while running but I like the aggression in the rock/metal while lifting.

I'm kinda trying to do a recomp at the moment. Eating slightly less than maintenance and lifting 6 days per week followed by half hour of cardio 6 times per week. I'm still right on 200lbs and while my weight has been pretty steady for a few weeks my strength is increasing so I'm happy with my progress. I'd be prefectly happy staying a 200lbs (I'm 5'11) if it's a ripped muscular 200lbs so I have pretty much stopped worrying about weight and go more on how I look, how my clothes fit etc now.

I hit chest then did rowing on the rowing machine this morning. I've been committed to getting up at 5.15am each day to get these workout's done and haven't missed a workout in 3 weeks now. feelsgoodman.jpg

Until recently, I worked out with no music and no tv. It was actually refreshing because you can get a lot of thinking done when you're working out. Lately I've been listening to whatever new vinyl I've gotten in the past couple of days.

Good point about running to a beat, Jonesy, my dad has been an avid runner for 30 years (after his baseball career fizzled out), and sometimes runs to disco because of the repetitive beat, like Donna Summer or something. I wonder if running to techno could zone you out so much you run like 20 miles without realizing it

                    Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

I think there is an app or a site online somewhere where you can roughly calculate your running cadence (how man steps per minute or something) and it matches you up to different songs that match that cadence. So you can have different play lists for faster runs, slower runs etc. Pretty neat idea.

I have never really been much of techno / trance fan but I can see how running to it might be pretty cool if you could match it up and use it to help get through some runs.

Like Tendrils sometimes it is nice just to have no music while doing things like running (another reason I like doing it early in the morning is I often have the road mostly to myself) and you can just kinda get lost in your thoughts. Well until you get a stomach cramp or get attacked by dog or something that is.

I find that I only go with no music whenever I'm in a bad mood. I just use that anger as motivation and think about stuff.

For whatever reason, Eminem seems to be good for me when I'm doing cardio. Had a playlist with a lot of Em and it worked well.

I honestly can't work out to music with words because I start thinking about what they are saying rather than concentrating to what I'm doing. I listen to dubstep now when working out.

Making decent progress, another loss this week and feeling good about where I am headed. Down to 272.4, I was up at 278 three weeks ago. Cutting out snacks/eating between meals was a big part of that.

Yeah when you feel sore after a workout it's a good feeling because you know your muscles are working.
