Gah! Now people are going to get confused as to which OP the poster is replying to.

Anyway, Wrigleyville, it sounds like PSU is your best bet from an academic standpoint. You don't have to go to VT just because you have a bunch of relatives who go or have gone there and because you have been a lifelong fan. Plus, If you go to PSU, it doesn't mean you have to stop rooting for VT. Besides, it's not like they're in the same conference and play each other every year. In fact, one of my grad school professors here at Pitt has a sone who goes to Syracuse and still roots for Pitt when the 2 teams play.

          To the PSU/VT guy.

I'd do some major research on which school will give you the best opportunities in life. Call possible future employers that will want someone in your field, talk to important people in person, ect.

If they are equal, go to VT. I would have loved for the chance to go to Texas, my favorite college, but I couldn't afford it. I could easily get a loan and go there, but they don't offer anything special for CIS majors.

And like I told FSU guy, you can always go to one, if you have major regrets you can transfer.

            Re: College Help/Advice

Thanks for the input guys. So far everyone here is saying I should got to PSU. Everyone here at home says I should go to VT (yes I'm THAT guy who wears a vt shirt every other day to school lol). Anyways, I really do appreciate all of your input. Believe it or not, I do value what you all have to say. I found it hilarious how one of the posters here said if all else fails go to UAH (my backup school is actually Auburn but I'm surprised to see a UAH reference here at OS lol). My dad works in Virginia for a short term project in order to get in state tuition if I were to go to VT. However, that would only take affect after or during the spring semester of my sophomore year. He is 100% supportive of what I do, and is leaving the decision to me to choose where I want to go. I'd probably have to take some loans out if I were to go out of state at PSU, but I think it would be worth it in the long run. I'm really wanting to talk to someone unbiased towards PSU or VT, so that is why I came on here to see what you guys had to say. I think I'm going to try to talk to my hockey coach about it. He seems like someone I could go to, as he is always asking me about college. I know eventually I'm going to have to make my own decision, and someone else can't make it for me. But right now, I'm just trying to weigh all the options.

Try to retake the SAT's or ACT and get what you need for 100% Bright Futures. It is def worth it, esp if you were 100 ish points off (SAT)
