I miss driving stick like crazy. Gonna move out of Manila next year so I'll definitely be looking.

It is going away though because no one is buying them so if you have a stick, take care of that baby.

Might get a new STI, or a used one and work on it.

My last manual Transmission was a 2001 Maxima. Ever since then it’s been automatics because it is just too congested to enjoy that type of driving. My first vehicle was a 3 speed on the column manual, that’s what I learned on.

We picked up a 2020 Subaru Outback this past Saturday for my wife. This is officially her first brand new car. She went from a 2008 to a 2020 - quite the jump in features. Heck, even the jump from my 2017 WRX to this feels big. The center console is pretty much an iPad and 98% of all functions are using the screen. Subaru's eyesight (lane position monitoring) is standard on all models starting this model year. My father-in-law has a 60k+ Audi SUV and the Outback at half the cost has many of the same features.

The car itself feels and looks much bigger than her previous model. It rides smooth with minimal outside noise. Tons of room for seating. Tons of room for storage. It's a great car even if there's no exciting bone in it's body.

Has that station wagon look to it with how long the front end and how low the roof line is.

              Re: OS Cars Thread

So, I've been all of the place lately.

I almost pulled the trigger on my dream car, a 911, but I talked myself out of it as my finances aren't quite that good lol.

I was strongly considering the 2020 Camaro 2SS as it has the performance & ventilated seats that I was really hoping for. I love v8 engines, but I just couldn't convince myself to jump into something that gets 16mpg in the city.

Tonight I wanted to test drive a BMW 440i, but they didn't have any on the lot. The sales guy turned me on to a 2020 M2 Competition in Hockenheim Silver Metallic that they had. A 6 speed, and it was a fantastic little ride. Fortunately it didn't have a sunroof, otherwise I might have driven away in it.

I'm really torn on what to do. The m2 and the nicely optioned 440i with the m-package are roughly the same msrp. I'm leaning towards a lease. The residuals on the m2 are horrific, but since it's an M car there is a chance that it could be worth more than the buyout at the end of lease. The mpg on the m2 is only a little better than the camaro I was looking at has which hurts. The available options also aren't quite as luxurious as either the Camaro or the 440i. It still gets the big ones like heated leather seats/navigation/etc, but it isn't quite as luxurious (the 440i has a more robust instrument cluster, more backup camera options, heads up display, etc). The backseat on the m2 is surprisingly spacious for such a small car, but the trunk is tiny. I'm not sure if a full size set of golf clubs would fit back there without letting the back seats down, but you could easily fit a few suit cases.

I'm leaning towards the 440i. As a daily driver, I think it probably offers enough performance to satisfy me when I get that urge to drive a bit sporty, and I think I will probably be happier with the slightly more luxurious nature of the 4 series. It's rated at 22/30 mpg which is also a nice upgrade over the m2. That being said....the m2 is a M.

Tough call either way. I just wish I didn't have to wait until January to get it with a build-to-order lol.

Love my 440i GC. MSport package is a must. If you lease a BMW the residual will always be high, it’s how they keep the payments and the down reasonable. BMW will always push the lease, they see it as 3 sales. The initial one to you, the next one you lease when you turn it in, and the CPO sale they make a killing on when they sell your turn back. No one ever buys their car at the end of a BMW lease for these reasons.

M2 is one of the best bang for the buck cars for serious drivers you can get. Much like you saw, it’s a little spartan for a daily driver.

                  Re: OS Cars Thread

Fortunately for me there is 0 chance of a new lease in 3 years when all of their cars switch to the beaver teeth grills. In my case I'll either buy it outright at the end if I like it or I'll give it back and go after a 911. That's the plan anyway.

The residual on the M2 was just 51%, which actually is in line with what I've seen on bimmerpost. All of their non M cars get much better treatment on the residual, kind of surprising as I would think the M badge would carry more weight down the road, but that's why I'm thinking the buy out could be lower than the cars market value.

Going to test drive a 440 coupe today at another dealership. It's an auto so it won't be quite what I'm looking for, but at least it gives me a chance to feel the car before I make my final decision on what to order. Will post pics when I make that decision.

                    Re: OS Cars Thread

Went to a different dealership today. They had a very basic 440, m package seats but nothing else really. It was a much more comfortable ride which I think makes more sense .

Sat down with the sales guy and specced out an order. MSRP of 65k. Their initial offer had a dealer discount of 5k. Payments still came out higher than I wanted, largely due to the money factor. They offered an additional 500 in dealer discount if I added an additional 1k to my money down. I told them that I would add 1500 to my money down if they increased the discount by an additional 500 (total dealer discount would be 6k). Sales manager balked at that so I walked away telling him I would think about it

                      2020 440i? Coupe or GC?

Any improvements to infotainment? Is the instrument cluster still analog or did they go digitial like the 3 series?

                      I haven't looked inside the new 440's and mine is a 2019.

My tester seemed to be missing a lot of options, but as far as I can tell the upgraded instrument cluster isn't the same one as on the 3. Pretty disappointing that we can't get the same dash that has been on the 3 for a year on the 2020 4. I actually don't know that much has changed from 2019. I believe there are some very minor styling differences, but everything else appears to be the same.

Parking lot, have someone with you that's done it before. Eventually, hit the road.

I had to learn in this mamma jamma:

Literally everything after this was a cakewalk.

To be fair though, I've been driving stick for 16 years, and I only just recently learned about things like rev-matching, so you're always learning with a stick.

I'll never not own stick as a personal vehicle.

                              I second this.

Even better if the parking lot has some somewhere with an incline. If you can learn how to not roll back on a hill then everything else is easy.

Pulled the trigger on this today. Identically specced to the one I was looking to order last week, I just found this one from an out of state dealer. My local dealer is part of the same parent company though and were able to pull it off the lot. They are shipping it, and I should have it within a week.

The deal wasn't quite as good as I was hoping, but I do get the car now versus 2-3 months from now.
