      Re: OS Cars Thread

      Congrats on the new ride!

Aww man, I remember my break-in period last December. I broke in my Civic Si for the first 1,000 miles, almost exclusively staying off highways except for the second night I had it. Wanted to vary those RPM's, and stayed off of boost that entire time.

Only took a few weeks and had a 500+ mile round-trip road trip that winter break on the highway right after that, and I think my engine will thank me in the end for the long run.

Anyway, just did my third oil change and am now at 15,000 miles. I've never even went over 10,000 miles in a single years, and I still have another full month left of this year.

I meant to tell you that I do have some kind of digital instrument cluster upgrade. It isnt anywhere near as advanced as what is on the 3 series, but i guess it is pretty.

Do you mount your phone anywhere? I haven't found a good spot for it anywhere. In my old car I had a magnetic mount to the right of the steering wheel, but there isnt enough room for that here. 20191027_144333.jpg

            Re: OS Cars Thread

So...I'm confused. Got my car tinted today. Came home, and a friend pointed out that the back of my car now had a 7 on it, in front of the 440. Not sure if it happened at the car tint shop or maybe in my work parking deck during the week (since I don't exactly check my model badge every day).

It definitely wasn't on my car when I picked it up last week from the dealer. I'm just so confused with A - Why anyone would do this and B - It even looks like the BMW 7 series 7 which seems oddly convenient for someone to have laying around.

C - Car swap at the tint shop, bro?

Awfully strange, that's for sure. Someone stole my Honda emblem back when I was in college, but putting something on a car sure seems weird.

What tinting did you get, by the way? I'm thinking of either 60/30 or 50/25 (the front includes windshield as well).

I can take some better pictures tomorrow in the sun.

I went with 3m crystalline, 40% everywhere. I did some research and I was originally looking at the pinnacle series ceramic, but this stuff had better ratings for UV and IR blockage. It also has a certain reflective quality to it which makes it seem darker than a similarly rated ceramic or dyed tint imo. It wasnt cheap though. 499 to do all windows on a coupe vs probably about 230 if I just went with a basic charcoal dyed tint

                  Re: OS Cars Thread

For sure. I'm likely to do ceramic tinting, which is also much more expensive but will also block quite a bit of heat. I think 40% on the windshield will be too dark for me (and for California, which really shouldn't have any windshield tinting whatsoever).

I like that reflective look, though.

Oh yeah I didn't do windshield. That's illegal here. I think you can do some kind of clear film, but I'm not 100% on that. So I just did the the windows you see here and then the back glass.

Got the 7 off with some dental floss. It was stuck on enough that you couldn't just pull it off, but the adhesive clearly wasn't at full strength.

Blow dryer works perfectly when debadging.

I will probably be in the market for summer tires and most likely rims as well next Spring. Anybody have any recommendations for a good summer tire that's balanced between performance/DD? Michelin Super Sports seem to be the prevailing recommendation from reddit, but figured I'd check here as well.

Even less familiar with rims. The only name I know is Enkei, but don't know if that's a reliable bet for budget, performance, etc.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires and can’t recommend them enough. That’s all I got though lol.

                          Picked up a 2016 Mercedes CLS400.

After driving this car I can just confirm that German vehicles drive 1000% different than Japanese or American cars.

I've looked at the 2019 and 2020 Benz but I'm just not a fan of the exterior looks right now

It's been awhile since i been in the scene but I always went Volk Racing or Gold Advan RG2s on my last sti.

Definitely check the forums to get the look you want so you can get the right size.

Tires are Nitto, Pirelli have been amazing for me.

That's definitely different and a little nicer cluster than on my '19. Hopefully they'll get the one in the 3 soon.

Mounting a phone has been a problem, as you say there isn't enough room. I use one that connects to the vent, but I'm not especially thrilled with it. If you find a better option let me know.
