    Re: OS Cars Thread

Lexus/Toyota/Infiniti run this weekend coming up.

I checked out the Buick Enclave the other day when I was getting some food right across the street, I was pretty surprised at how much space there was inside.

I'm starting to think I need to go with the extra room for my dogs (ie 3rd and 2nd row folding down flat for a platform)

My step mom had the Charger R/T Daytona and I've drove it. It was beastly. The only gripe I had was the interior.. the head rests and seats were nice, but the dash and everything else under performed.

I think the Chargers should have looked like the Challenger does.

Honestly, I'm just not into the newer 'muscle' cars. They leave something to be desired. The nicest one is the new Challenger.

        No thanks.
I guess I'm going to look like a d-bag then because I've got a 2012 Charger SRT8 on order for September delivery. I've always been an American car guy - to me you just don't buy foreign cars. I love seeing a Toyota or a Honda on the road with a "God Bless America" sticker.

The craftsmanship/finish of American cars has improved quite a bit over the past few years, it's just not true anymore that they lag behind.

I don't really care about depreciation because I wouldn't be caught dead in a Japanese car...Remember Pearl Harbor! lol

            Exactly.

And I should be getting an 2011 R/T or R/T Plus at the end of July!

Craftsmanship/fit finish is quite a bit behind. They aren't even close. Close a door on a Chrysler or a Ford, then close a door on a Infiniti, Lexus or BMW. Tell me that American cars even remotely seem as solid. Look at the quality of materials used on the interior? You think they are on the same level?

Remember Pearl Harbor? Seriously? That's plain stupid. Should I not drink tea because I should remember the Stamp Act? Should I not eat Taco's because of the Alamo?

If an American Company made a quality car that could match European/Japanese/Korean cars, I'd consider them. They simply don't match up. There is not a single American car that is remotely appealing or one that I would trade one of my Infiniti's for.

Buying American in this instance means little to me. I already did when my tax dollars paid for their bailout. I do so love subsidizing corporate greed and mismanagement.

I am not sure what a "God Bless America" Sticker on a Honda has to do with anything, given the fact that Honda, BMW, Mercedes and Toyota among others have created more jobs than the domestic car companies in this country over about the last decade. While Chrysler, GM were pissing away jobs and factories, the Japanese and European companies were investing in assembly plants here. 66% of "Foreign Import" cars are actually built in the U.S.

I am all for patriotism, but I am not going to applaud corporate greed, colossal mismanagement, and offshoring of jobs simply because their corporate HQ sits within the continental U.S.

With Ford, GM and Chrsyler starting to assemble more and more cars in Canada and Mexico, you can make an argument that many of the foreign cars are actually more "domestic" than many of the domestic brands.

I completely disagree. But I am glad you found a car you like. Make sure to post some pics.

The IS's are barely a Lexus. Particularly the 250. They are entry level rides where Lexus skimped in a lot of ways to make them affordable. Although I really am not a fan of Lexus to begin with.

If that's the case. Infiniti FX is going to be your choice. EX is going to be too small.

Bought this '05 Altima back in June '05. Got 110k miles on it now. Pretty much bought it because it was the sedan with the most cabin room so I could fit comfortably in it.

It's been great to me so far.

BTW it is amazing how little room there is in SUVs the last 5-10 years. My first car was a '91 Ford Explorer and the thing had a ton of room in it. Apparently SUVs are only made for soccer moms these days, I seriously couldn't fit in a majority of the SUVs I test drove in '05.

I noticed the same thing about the SUV's. They do seem to be getting smaller inside. Although I attribute some of that in an attempt to make them more fuel efficient.

When the last crazy gas price hit a while back, remember there were a lot of real expensive full size SUV's on the lots that they simply couldn't give away due to the rising gas prices.
