Yep. It's definitely still an issue. Always will be, IMO. Just human nature. As a teacher, we have to address it when we see it. However, we can't protect the "victim" all the time. At some point they are going to have to defend themselves.

Letting your kid get his eyebrow pierced when he is 12 years old is pretty lousy parenting if you ask me. But then again, I wouldn't expect any better from a dude who straight up looks like he took a break from prospecting for gold to do that interview.

Just curious if this story has been covered much in the US media because it is literally EVERYWHERE here in Australia? I heard Casey got paid 150k for his interview so I'm assuming the reason the bully came out of the wood work with his 'claims' is basically a cash grab from his red neck parents.

The skinny kid was dancing around like Muhammad Ali throwing those punches, no way in hell Casey was the aggressor imo and the little punk got what he deserved.

Sidenote: That kid and his dad do not represent the average Australian citizen who has good teeth and good overall dental hygiene.

As a person who grew up around gangs (and knew some members) this kid has no ****ing idea about this lifestyle. This kid wouldn't last a minute in the "hood".

I dated a chick from New Jersey who had this annoying little cousin who wanted to be "hood". He kept trying to talk tough, asking me questions about what it was like living in Brooklyn, and telling me he wanted to come and "kick it with me in the hood"... Bastard was acting like he was going on a safari expedition or something. My girl kept telling me how nice it was that he wanted to hang out with me. My intention was purely to let him come with me to Brooklyn, drop him off in Red Hook, and keep it moving.

Bullies really tick me off. Especially the ones who act all big and bad, but then once someone tries to fight back they run to a teacher and act innocent. The funny thing is most teachers either don't give a crap about bullying, or they're too stupid to realize that the 7 foot tall kid who's always wearing his hat backwards with his pants at his knees and calls his friends "*****s" or "homies", is probably bullying the 5 foot tall fat kid who always eats lunch alone and never talks to anyone.

Kids usually aren't stupid. They aren't going to bully another kid right in front of a teacher. If it's happening in your classroom or assigned duty area, then yeah there really is no excuse.

If what that skinny punk says is true, and Casey told him, "Get to class, idiot" how does that result in coming up to him and punching him?

I always followed the rule of trade verbal sparring with verbal sparring of your own, and when they throw a punch, you beat the crap out of them.

I dealt with a bully that way in sixth grade after months of bullying from him. Tossing my backpack all over the floor, being thrown into lockers, my parents warning the school about it etc. I hate to tell you who dont know, but schools are bad about taking care of problems with bullies. They just shrug it off. So my mom told me the next time he grabs me to beat the crap out of him.

So I did. They called my mom and told her what happened and she said, "Good. That's what I told him to do. Whats the problem?"

I taught my son the same thing. He's like me, he's big for his age. But when he started school, these little kids wanted to test him and lay hands on him. And down here in NC, they're stricter than they were in NY, where I went to school, about "telling the teacher" and not retaliating. But I had told him like my pops told me; you let them know verbally the first time that you are not the one. Then if they keep coming at you, you are now obligated to beat the point into them. This little snot kept testing him, and my son, to his credit, told him three times to cut it out or else. So my son proceeded to put in work on him. My wife got called, told what happened, and was like, "OK, so what's the problem?" Funny thing, when they had open school night a few weeks later, the kid spotted my son and pointed him out to his pops. Ever so briefly, the pops looked like he wanted to have a "discussion" about it, then saw me, and quickly "hulked down".
