They had gradient numbers, like the pattern on the sleeves. The Double A banned gradient numbers right around the time Arizona unveiled their uniforms. But since it was such short notice, they were allowed to wear them for the season as long as they ordered new ones that complied.

That's only 4 by my count. Solid purple, solid orange, white, purple with orange bill.

EDIT: 5, the whites have 2 different bills.

There are two white hats. One with a purple bill, one with orange. C is different colors on both too.

The thinner style has been the baseball look for quite some time. I personally like it. We never had block letters in my years.

The purple cap with orange bill is the best out of Clemson's collection of hats. As for ND I really like the dark cap. It looks almost exactly like the cap Lou Holtz used to wear roaming the sidelines for the football team.

I like both iterations though I give the slight nod to the '86 inspired version as it's a bit of a different look then what we've seen all our lives.
