Re: Have you ever been robbed?

Someone broke into my apt. 2 summers ago. Apparently my roommate got there in the middle of the break in while the perp. was upstairs. Roommate then drove a mile away to call the police. Needless to say, the guy was gone by the time the police showed up.

I lost a HDTV, PS3, wii, controllers, games, blu rays. Close to $2K worth of stuff. Luckily I had renters insurance.

Which they dropped me from a month later after making payment.Comment

Re: Have you ever been robbed?

On a sports gaming site, yes, I'd expect them to know the difference. So in this instance, if the OP asked "What is your favorite MLB 2K game?" and several people kept replying "MLB 11: The Show", you'd be alright with that? "99% of the population" that don't play sports games wouldn't know the difference, but there is that one percent (or whatever hyperbole you want to use) that take it seriously and just want to educate on which is which.

Perhaps I just want the OS community to be smarter than the average 99 percent of the population. What's wrong with that?

If my grandma asked about my MLB 2K franchise when I was playing the show, no, I wouldn't think it's a big deal, wouldn't bother correcting her.

If this was a site devoted to crime, than yea, I'd nitpick that. Otherwise not a big deal.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Have you ever been robbed?

I was in a gas station when someone attempted to rob it at gunpoint. Guy didn't get anything though. A cop car randomly drove by (not called in or anything, just passing by), and the guy freaked and took off before getting anything.Comment

Also didn't have renters insurance. she didn't legally break into my apt as she was babysitting. My wife left her alone there even tho she knew that she regularly shoplifted and is on meth. I don't know why she would leave her alone but it is what it is. And now I'm out about 400 dollars worth of stuff. Oh the girl is 7 months pregnant.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

Re: Have you ever been robbed?

A little over a year a go I was robbed at gun point, got only my wallet and about $60 in cash, I cancelled all my cards immediately so no damage could be done. Thieves are weak little suckers IMO. For about a month after I was so mad at myself for letting this punk get away with it.Last edited by Bighoff; 04-16-2011, 03:56 AM.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

I felt the same way, the way they robbed me was cowardly. Seriously separate the little guy from the big guy? But at the end of the day I'm not losing my life over a meaningless thing.A little over a year a go I was robbed at gun point, got only my wallet and about $60 in cash, I cancelled all my cards immediately so no damage could be done.Thieves are weak little suckers IMO. Re: Have you ever been robbed?

Robbed = extremely serious crime that could be life threatening
Burglarized = property crime which is clearly serious but no threat of bodily harm. Well this is technically 2nd degree burglary, which nobody is home. 1st degree burglary is a home invasion, which rarely happens.

I've had my car and home burglarized. Both while I lived at Notre Dame. On my way out I just wanted to roll through the hood and throw bricks through wind shields. Due to fear of some person seeing I did not follow through!

BTW I conceal carry at all times and I hope nobody tries to rob me. They will die.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: Have you ever been robbed?

Back in my first year of college, someone stole Blitz: The League from me.

Rather odd occurrence, since it was the only XBOX game which was stolen (of multiple, including both Halo games), and the XBOX itself wasn't stolen.

Filed a police report, but nothing ever turned up. Meh.Comment

Why would you even have someone like that babysit your kids in the first place? Especially since she already knew about that stuff. Also didn't have renters insurance. she didn't legally break into my apt as she was babysitting. Re: Have you ever been robbed?

Some guy attempted to pickpocket me outside of a Best Buy a few months ago, but I caught him in the act and sent him running for the hills with severe neck pain. He didn't even try to casually go for my wallet, it was more like a snatch and grab type thing. He fumbled with it for just a brief second, long enough for me to turn around and throw a haymaker. Well, he got his face out of the way, but I punched the dude right in the soft part of the neck (just underneath the jaw) as hard as I could and it visibly rocked him. He fell down to one knee and I immediately reached down for my wallet that had fallen down on the sidewalk in between us. By the time I picked it up and stuck it back in my pocket he took off running like Carl Lewis through the parking lot. I took two steps to run after him and then thought, "Why bother? He didn't get anything from me besides a sore neck." so I stopped, walked into Best Buy and bought the Blu-ray I went there to buy and went home.

Some lady saw the whole thing and came up running to me after the guy ran off with her cell phone out going, "Oh my god, do you want me to call the police?" I calmly said, "I would really prefer if you didn't, but thanks anyway."

I know that a security camera video of this incident exists somewhere as it happened literally 10 feet away from the front door to a Best Buy in a busy area. I would pay good money for a copy of it.Comment
