    OH MY GOD. Wow.

I wouldn't be surprised to see close to 100 fatalities by the time this is all over.

Unfortunately I think you're right. Usually when you get to a storm shelter or basement in a tornado, you are pretty safe, but with twisters this violent, when homes are being razed to their foundations, you can easily be plucked right from your basement and end up as part of the debris.

Just awful. I have a pit in my stomach watching these videos. I can't imagine losing friends, family, neighbors, and all my possessions in a matter of minutes.

Posted this in the weather thread too:

My hometown, Hackleburg, has been demolished. Unconfirmed reports of 26 dead. It's just a really, really bad situation especially for a town of less 1500. The school isn't there anymore & every business has damage. The biggest employer in town is completely gone. The town may never recover from this.

edit: I can't really get too much info here in Louisiana. TWC isn't saying much about Hackleburg and the phone lines are still down. What little news I am getting is from Facebook so I take it with a grain of salt. If anyone in North AL hears anything please let me know.

I changed the title so we can make this the outbreak discussion thread.

            Stay safe, brothers.

I have spoken with a friend of mine that works at the hospital in Tuscaloosa. She said that there are hundreds of fatalities that haven't been reported yet. A housing project was completely leveled and that's where the deaths are. To quote emergency workers, "bodies laying everywhere!"
These storms are going to be moving into North and South Carolina before long.

Wow let's hope some of that is erroneous information or false reporting because that is just tragic if its true..

Yeah a housing project was destroyed from what I heard from my g/f. Not many made it out alive in that complex. We're talking 100+ people there alone.

Unbelievable. I have family in Tuscaloosa and thank God they are okay. Also family in Birmingham and friends in Huntsville that are okay. Absolutely crazy from what I've heard and seen. Prayers to everyone affected by these storms.

Here's a before and after picture in Tuscaloosa. The first is from Google Maps, the bottom is after the tornado passed through.

What a telling shot there. If not for the taller buildings still standing in the distance, I would swear this was a post-nuke picture. So sad.

Damn just saw this thread. That tornado was huge and seeing that damage is depressing. Stay safe. I don't know what's going on but there has been some really crazy weather lately.
