    Re: Bin Laden is dead!

They tried to take him alive. This has been said over and over. He resisted in some way and the SEAL shot him. Its pretty cut and dry. Who knows if he had an IED or had pulled the pin on a grenade, or had a gun in his pants.

I am sure the situation was beyond frantic. The SEAL felt he had to pull the trigger and thats what he did.

Its over. Arguably the most diabolical criminal in history is dead. Who gives a **** about a damn trial. We don't need to worry about what Al Qaeda thinks or if he is a martyr now. Screw it. Let them look at him as a martyr all they want.

This brings some semblance vindication to many, many people.

Why give him a trial? Why let him be part of the justice cycle of the very country that he and his sons of bitches want to destroy? Why give him the satisfaction of enjoying the rights we have as American people? ****. That.
I take it that you didn't watch Saddam Hussein's trial? That you didn't see his standing in the Muslim world get crushed daily...that you didn't see Hussein go from a god like figure to a pathetic, crushed little man...that you didn't see the outlet of emotion the 10000s he killed were able to get watching him publicly humiliated...that you didn't see all his lies exposed...that you didn't see people who held him up as a 'warrior' against the west suddenly see him as a 'coward' for not dying in battle.

Saddam died a slow, painful humiliation.

Bin Laden deserved the same IMO.

Who cares as long as the guy is dead and gone and will no longer be killing innocent people? I mean really...

I couldn't give a **** less. They still hate us either way. I don't care what they think. Like I care what Saddam Hussein's standing was with people who were jumping for joy when those towers were knocked down.

People have a ton of hate in this thread and around the world. I feel sorry for them all. People are not born Monsters, they experience things and evolve into them. I would like to know what pushed Osama to the point where he felt there was no other way?

There are a lot of resources on this... it's a very sad story, to me. Bin Laden had the resources to contribute so much to his people and the world- instead he decided to blow it up.

With regard to him getting a trial, I don't believe that bin Laden would have gotten anything beyond a military tribunal anyway, to be honest. In one manner or another, he was going to be killed when we found him, IMO.

You and I lost family and friends on 9/11 and the war years that followed. My family members are happy with the result. We certainly didn't need to see a long drawn out trail with OBL spouting his BS. I really don't care what brought him to kill thousands of innocent civilians simply going to work that day. I saw people jumping to their deaths on 9/11 because of this murderer. I could careless if he was armed or not.
As far as his death shots being gruesome,so what? I've seen pictures of President Kennedy after his head was shot off. They were published. He is a beloved hero in this country. Why not show this vermin's photo. Personally I want to see the death shots of the man that caused my life/family and country to drastically change for the worse. That photo will be my screensaver for the rest of my life.

                  Have a safe day brother.

                    I'll give a brief summation:

Important point: bin Laden was quite irrational

al-Qaeda was formed sometime in the second half of 1988, combining bin Laden's assets with the battle experience of the US-funded resistance groups.

bin Laden was actually appreciative of the US after they helped the mujahideen repel the Soviets, of course things change. He returned to Saudi Arabia with high regard in 1989. In 1990, during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, the Saudi Royal Family had concerns that Iraq would set sights for Saudi Arabia. bin Laden offered to defend King Fahd's oil fields, but the King instead opted to accept help from the United States, allowing placement of US troops and equipment on Saudi land. bin Laden was angry with the Saudis for allowing non-Muslims near the holy cities of Medina/Mecca and began to condemn the Royal Family. After speaking publicly against the Saudi government for harboring American troops,in 1991 he was banished and forced to live in exile in Sudan.

By this point al-Qaeda was beginning to plot numerous terrorist attacks. And over the next few years, al-Qaeda gained a lot of momentum, opening branches all across North Africa/Middle East and parts of Asia. bin Laden continued to speak poorly of the United States, primarily because troops and equipment were still stationed near Medina and Mecca even after Iraq left Kuwait. US occupation in Somalia pushed him over the edge and in 1996 he declared the first fatwa against the occupations.

why his grievances about the occupation were irrational: Not only did the royal family, who made the laws, say it was okay, it isn't against Islamic law for gentiles to just be near Mecca neither. It's in Mecca that they're not allowed.

To be fair US involvement in Somalia was a cluster****, but that certainly never justified a "declaration of war against the Americans". Like I said, an irrational fellow.

Not trying to take this OT but I was in Somalia. “Operation Restore Hope" wasn't an occupation. We provided food and protection to starving people. The fact OBL had issues with that speaks volumes about how he really felt towards fellow Muslims. As far as it being a cluster****. I disagree. Send me a PM if you want to discuss this.

                          No trial.

                          #1. I can't stand Nancy Grace.

#2. His followers would have either tried to spring him or attack us somewhere else, possibly in multiple places in a coordinated attack.

#3. His followers would have said he was brave and defiant in the face of "Imperialistic America" to the end.

#4. He refused surrender. My 1st thought were I the trigger man is he got duct taped C4 on his person. THAT would have inspired his followers more than anything, had he taken some of Seal 6 with him..

Osama would have been tried and cameras or the press would have been there, giving him a platform to spew more garbage. Two to the head, two to the chest - that was the right outcome.

One of the points I saw about a trial was even if he had a military trial, he still would've been permitted to look at CIA records since they would've been the basis for the case against him, and no one would've wanted to let him look at that stuff.

OBL, and those of his ilk, want to exterminate this country and all of its inhabitants from the face of the earth. They would behead every single one of us without a second thought or any remorse. We here in the West (not getting political here) have this romantic notion that we can negotiate with all our enemies, that we can find common ground and hammer out some kind of truce without shedding blood. It's unbelievably sad that it took 3000 American lives for us to finally wake up to the reality that this is an enemy that cannot be bargained with. They don't want land, or money, or prestige. They want us to cease to exist. They want to destroy every remnant of our way of life.

It's kill or be killed. It's that simple. It's not pretty. But it's necessary. This is war. OBL was not a civilian; he was a mass murderer with zero regard for human life, and the world is a better (and safer) place with him no longer drawing breath.

I'm not going to comment on any religious aspect of this thing (and neither should any of you, remember...). It boils down to the fact that a man who wanted to murder all of us is now dead, and for that, I celebrate his demise.
