Re: Bin Laden is dead!
I would like to see the Americans say forget them and go in full blast. I am sure if we went full blown at them we could hurt them bad that it would be hard to be as strong as they are after that. But that would take a lot of people agreeing and if John Wayne was president.Comment

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
This "war" has been going on for 10 yrs. The Commander-in-chief gave the order. I'm sure as Fishepa mentioned, all options were considered.
Bin Laden went down fighting, he didn't surrender. If you were one of the Navy Seals, what would you have done with a direct order from your President?Comment

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
Actually al qaeda is just as strong if not stronger than it was previously. Osama hadn't planned anything since 9/11 so he wasn't really important at all. Additionally, they've been having some success recruiting.
I don't think Pakistan leadership is going to be able to do very much. Extremists groups have a decent amount of influence there. It also seems like the government is in fear of al Qaeda
OBL was the chief financier and leader of AQ, not the architect of the 9/11 attacks. His funds and contacts were what made them possible, but he didn't design and plan the attacks.
OBL's involvement in "planning" attacks is rallying their troops and preaching Jihad as their leader. AQ has taken credit for plenty of attacks since 9/11. I don't know where you've read that said they haven't.
There are democratic uprisings in Arab states across the middle east going directly against what AQ preaches. How exactly are they stronger?Comment

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
I really don't see how you can't take Osama's life. He's not coming willingly so there is only one alternative. This is war, death is apart of it.Originally posted by WatsonTigerOne out of 7 billion, and we still tagged your ***.Comment

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
It seems like I'm the minority here but I'm not celebrating. I think taking him out now is a bad move as far as the war on terror is concerned. Additionally, the way in which he was killed (taking a shot that killed someone who wasn't a target) is absurd and shouldn't have happened.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
I understand the point that al-Qaeda's command structure has changed dramatically since 9/11 and that the movement is more decentralized, but that doesn't mean, to use your words, "he hasn't planned anything."I write things on the Internet.

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
Bin Laden was the main unifying force behind Al Qaeda. This is a huge blow to them. There's always going to be terrorists and I'm not saying we just won the war on terror, but this is going to make it very tough for Al Qaeda to ever be a major unified organization ever again imo. As for them not striking in years, well they tried, and major attacks take years to plan and coordinate. Who's to say they weren't planning something else.
Don't see any argument for how this could be a bad thing. We have to continue to remain on high alert, but the world is a better place without him, and in the long run we are definitely safer than before.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
Are you talking about the actual confrontation with bin Laden? The way I understand it is it happened in his compound. Who ever was in his compound is considered an enemy combatant to me.Chicago Bears

If someone murdered family members of yours, you'd want that person to be caught and dealt with according to the law...afterall, laws are for the lawbreakers, correct?
That said, im not down with the live tv street celebrations and crap
I am wondering what kind of intel they pulled out of that place, thats something no one has mentioned yet, only retaliation, but what did we discover?
I'm not going to prance around about the man's death I want to know important detailsComment

Yeah I'm with this at this point. I've said my thoughts and have pretty much responded to every argument posted so far at some point so I'm out. Hopefully whatever happens doesn't kill a lot of our soldiers. My latest project - Madden 12 http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043231648Comment

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
Some sources say Al-Quaeda has been irrelevant for years. His death means nothing to me. How many people have been killed by Al-quaeda on American soil since 9/11??? More people died in gang related deaths last year than by Al-Quaeda in the last 10 years. I don't even consider this a moral victory. He kills 3000 we kill him. 3000:1 ratio. Not to mention he still goes to his heaven.
I will find the article later but it also states he killed just about if not more Muslims across seas than Americans here in the US. So this whole we wanted to follow Islamic law by dumping him in the ocean is a little odd. If they wanted to follow Islamic law they should've buried him like everyone else. The "we didn't want to give people a shrine for people to gather around" is laughable as well. Heck If they want to immortalize him w/ a shrine they could build it any where. *shrugs* just my $.2Psn: Plex-07Comment
