Sorry to bring in God. But go read the Old Testement. God killed his enemies. This is a good day for all that have been effected by this man's evil. At least that is how I see it.

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
I hate to dig, but I'm interested in seeing your opinion. Do you disagree with Professor Korsgaard when she depicts what she believes that the public feels that those who kill deserve to die as retribution? I assume you disagree with her assertion that the fact that he needed to be disabled and the belief that he had to die should be kept apart.
Also, from your quote, you suggest that there is moral philosophical justification for the rejoicing from the American public in your view. Can you elaborate why you feel that way?
I'm not trying to be a troll, I legitimately want to see your viewpoint on this, as I feel this is a legitimate discussion that we should examine as intellectual beings.Rose City 'Til I Die

I think whoever is celebrating with jubilation is absolutely justified. I can understand those who are not too enthusiastic about "celebrating death" no matter who it is, but frankly, in this (and a few others) case, any moral "guilt" one might feel for feeling happiness over a person's death goes out the window.Comment

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
Kinda had a cool moment today, during 9/11 I was in 3rd grade and it was a half day. I usually went home with my grandma at like 6 cause she was the PE teacher and worked aftercare, but my mom picked me up 5 min after school crying and I remember her sitting me down on a bench in the courtyard today telling me what happened(my real dad was in the navy so she was really worried)
I work at the same school in aftercare now a 12th grader about to go to college, just felt really cool to sit in the spot 10 years later from where I found out thinking how it all has come full circle from then.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
I just feel like the man is so disgusting and heinous, and is not just an enemy of war, but the main SYMBOL of this fight of good versus evil, that the mere elimination of his presence on this Earth is something to be celebrated.

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
I was downtown on 6th street here in Austin with my friends last night when it came on. The owner was there and got everyone there AK47 shots...It was awesome...This led to a chant of USA.PSN-Shugarooo

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
If he was any other man, I would agree with the article, but he was more than just a human. He was a living, breathing representation of evil and a walking symbol of the worst attack on US soil. I think people are over blowing the celebration stance on this by simply making it about a man's death. This is a victory in a lot of senses and offers closure for an entire nation, THAT is cause for celebration.

Re: Bin Laden is dead!
Osama's, and like, three or four others, are the only ones I'd feel this much outward jubilation for I think.Comment

I have a friend that used to work for DARPA. He is retired but still "consults".
He is a mentor to me. And a huge promoter of life. And against any kind of senseless killing, etc. Very "spiritual" but not "religious", hard to explain. I know ironic working for DARPA.
I asked him one time, right after they hung Saddam. If it was messed that I felt some remorse only cause he looked like a scared old man before his hanging.
He told me. That shows how much of a coward that man was. Did some of the most disgusting things to his people and others. Yet when faced with his own death, he was scared. There are certain evils you won't need to feel sorry for. And Bin Laden was one of them.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
