    Re: Any OS Loners?

I don't know if I would call myself a loner per se but I do have a really small group of people that I like and trust. I have 2 best friends who I've known for quite a while, and most of the other people I've become friends with over the past 5 years or so have been people that I only know through my 2 main friends. I do like to have time to myself and lot of the time I don't feel like doing anything social and would just rather sit at home on the computer, watch TV or movies, play video games, etc. As sad as that may sound a lot of times I would rather have personal time.

Going back to grad school this year has helped me develop a bit socially, though, since my MBA program is the same 30 people who go through the program together and we take all of our classes together. I see these people every day and have gotten to know most of them quite well. But I've only known them since September and I don't see them much outside of school, so its hard to really call any of them "close" friends. I guess my point is that even though I'm not really a "loner" I'm not much of a truly social person either.

Just call me Lone Wolf McQuade.

I'm pretty much a loner, always been and probably always will be. I just don't function all that well in a big crowd situation but doesn't mean I can't function at all. I just find it better to have close ties to those I know and keep it simple like that.

As an only child ive always felt like a loner and am comfortable by myself a great majority of the time. people who hate being alone confuse me. im not anti social at all though. when the situation calls for it, i can be outgoing and all that jazz.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a loner, which would surprise most people. I have made quite a few friends at work, but most of them are just that -- work friends. I very rarely go out with them. I am a likeable guy I guess, and people get surprised that I'm not wanting to go hang out at bars with them after work.

I guess I'm more a "home body" than loner.

Having a wife and a one-year-old son makes it pretty simple to tell people no. I'm not much of a drinker anymore, though I can get back in that lifestyle rather quickly if I allow myself.

I like time to myself. Not all the time, but solitude is a good thing for everyone to have from time to time.

When I was in High School/College I was a life of the party type. Now, I am the opposite. I just don't have time for it I guess. Between my wife, my work, and my hobbies, I really don't have much time to spare. Funny thing is that I am really happy too.

I'm not a loner by any means. But, when I moved up here to Tennessee there was only 1 person I knew in this town. All of my friends are scattered around the southeast. So I don't have the busy social life I had prior to the move. It doesn't bother me though since I'm moving again in September.

Not really a loner, but I don't hang out with people all too often. I just like being alone. I always make people laugh and you think I'd be out more, but I like being alone.

I have many friends who want to hang out but I just rather spend time with my girl and our pups or just alone.

I enjoy hanging out about once a month to be honest.

I've had the same set of guy friends for 18 years, and all of those bonds were formed from playing sports with them, which threw us together. All of my (close) female friends are the ones that make an effort to get to know me.

So when I go to college, I'm afraid I'll become a loner...unless I go to Southeastern, which is Live Oak High North.

I would not say I am a loner, but I have no problem being by myself and relaxing. I mean there are a few things I prefer to do on my own such as run and work out. Its very rare I go to bars anymore but that is because I have a gal I will be marrying next October and honestly why go pay high prices for beer when I can drink at the house.

I do go golfing with my buddies and coach football, but other than that really don't need to be around folks all the time.

I actually wish I had more alone time.

I still have a fair few really good friends and a pretty big family (both mine and the in-laws who are awesome luckily) living nearby so there is no shortage of social contact but honestly sometimes I just feel like locking myself alone in my room playing a game or watching a good movie and don't really want to see anybody.

Between working long hours, a wife and a 2 year old I don't have much spare time as it is so it does kinda get hard because I hate having to say no to invites from friends etc all the time but honestly sometimes I'd much rather just stay home.

Guess I'm turning into an anti-social prick now that I hit 30.

To the OP, I'd suggest picking up the book How To Win Friends and Influence People. It is a must read for all facets of relationships. The good news is that you can read it...wait for it...alone.

I feel like I will be once school is over.

All the friends I hang out with now are the same friends I've had since elementary/middle school...I haven't made any new ones because I don't really need to. Once everyone goes their own separate way, I'm screwed because I'm such a shy/reserved person around people I don't know. I honestly don't know how I made any friends to begin with because of that
