Charcoal and charcoal only for me. I prefer natural lump charcoal to briquettes because it burns hotter/faster.

If you go charcoal, you've gotta make sure not to use lighter fluid. I use a Webber Chimney starter with 2 pieces of newspaper and 15 minutes later I'm ready to go.

Whenever I smoke I typically use apple wood, it's my favorite. I also use cherry and pecan as well.

It's is during that time I prepare my adult beverage and sit back and read the paper, or what ever. I prefer charcoal when I'm grilling for just me and my GF. I use propane when we are entertaining guests or something like that.

I've never used almond but have used pecan with good results while cooking a pork butt. Almond is a very hard wood so it should burn at a high temp for a long period of time and should add a nice smoke flavor.

Personally I use hickory, apple and or pecan for pork. Beef I like to use a little bit of mesquite wood. I'll have to look around and see if I can find some almond wood chunks.

Sure propane can be ready within minutes but theres definitely a different taste. Don't get me wrong, with some good seasoning you can put out some good food on propane.

Almond wood is good on everything though I think it imparts better flavor to beef than pork. I still use it on everything with great success.

See quotes below. I work 10-12 hour days and have 3 kids and a wife to feed. Sometimes I need on-demand heat. lol

Can't beat the taste of good ol charcoal, lol. I have never grilled before but have had propane and charcoal grilled food before and once I get a grill I will get a charcoal one. More effort but better end result

I can cook on either, but I prefer charcoal.

I don't go overboard with it, but I like cooking with some hickory.

Propane grills are good for the weeknights when you want something grilled, but don't have the time to mess with it. If I'm cooking out or it's a weekend I'm all about the charcoal..

If someone really prefers the taste of a propane grill over charcoal.. come over to my house and I'll change your' mind.

I use propane for convenience but my propane grill has a dedicated smoker box/burner on the inside it. I always throw some would chips in there when I am grilling.
