No, I just think if they want to delete the two words they should just run a commercial, that way no one is offended, atheists or deists alike. God is a generic term, whereas Buddha, Jesus, Allah is not.

Ok, so what's the dumbest PC thing out there right now?

Also, just to clarify, I do not have a problem with any of the Christian avatars or quotes that some users have and some of the more vocal christians here are some of the most helpful posters (ScottDau comes to mind). I disagree, but am glad it works for them. I just do not feel that courtesy would be extended to me and my beliefs. Not worth it.

All in all Acts238shaun, I agree with you, I really do for the most part, just wanted to point out that while it should go both ways, it doesn't usually. Unfortunately, many of the examples I would point to are topics that I cannot really elaborate on here because of the TOS

When I was in boot camp, I thought it was funny seeing all these buff dudes crying because they were getting yelled at.

Matter of fact my drill sgts use to make them get their pillow, go outside, put the pillow on the ground, tell them to get on their hands and knees and tell them to bite their pillow you pillow biter.

Made them stay out there for an hour doing that. Grant it they called them more then pillow biters but nowadays drill sgts can't say that anymore.

              QFTW.

People in general are just really sensitive.

I was at work yesterday and a little girl was pushing a cart with 8 ft. aluminum panels on it, while her dad wasn't paying attention and was shopping for nails. I had to step in to keep from letting her run over some lady who was looking the other direction. I simply said, "Be careful, you'll end up getting hurt doing that." The father looks at me and says, "Hey, I don't need help raising my kid".

I had something to say, but chose to just walk away.

You are so right. It's like people feel like you are indicting them on being less of a human. It's just taken all so personal that they miss out on you trying to help. who said anything about how he raises his kid? lol...way too sensitive.

Man, that would've pissed me off so bad. How you didn't say "well, if you'd watch your kid, I wouldn't have too" is beyond me. Parents who don't watch their kids is the worst. I'm sure I've mentioned it in the pet peeves thread.

Anyway, I hear of stories of people who voluntarily enlist and when the get to boot camp they quit or get kicked out because they can't hack the verbal taunts. My step-dad loves me, but he was way tougher on me than an DI/drill sergeant. I'm gonna be tough on my girl, but in a loving way. God help us if we are at war and the draft has to be returned. Canada's/Mexico's population will double or triple and it will be like the Vietnam era where a bunch of men went to seminary and claimed "conscientious objector" status. They can't claim they are homosexual anymore, that ban has been is not an issue anymore.

I am not saying I agree with all of the American military policies, but political correctness may be the death knell of real courage.

As far as the Military Industrial Complex, Bigfoot, you may have a point and I agree there is some shady stuff going on the American people should know about, but I am just say we are turning even more to a country of politically correct wusses. The words "Under God" were deleted by NBC recently. Freaking sad.
I call BS on the highlighted portion. Highest score on the ASVAB is a 99 (since it's scored as a percentile). Trust me. I scored in the 98th percentile, and served ten years. If someone said you scored over 100, they're making up numbers.

Re: Has America gotten to politically correct/touchy?

THAT's what kills me...how people get up in arms over spanking. Not beating. Spanking. I am a part of the generation that saw paddles leave the classroom. Once the paddles left all hell broke loose it seems. I am 35 years old next week and I am still respectful of my Mama.

I remember seeing a woman spanking her kid in line (in Arkansas) because he tried to shop lift in Wal Mart. They were doing the hold-one-arm-and-spank-in-a-circle thing. An uppity woman looked at the Mom and said, "You shouldn't be doing that - you could go to jail. That's not right!"

Of course we all were watching and dead quiet. The resolute mother looked at the nosy woman and said, "Well after I am through whoopin' his *** I'll leave him with you to raise and feed and then I'll go on to jail where his daddy is. I won't have a thief in my house!"

I heard a couple of "I know dat's right!" behind me and a couple of slow claps. The nosy lady simply got out of line and left.

I know spankings seem brutal and don't work on some kids - I will admit that. However, it seems things have went downhill since Dad's disappeared from their homes and spanking was outlawed.

Re: Has America gotten to politically correct/touchy?

The term "What you eat doesn't make me ****" comes to mind here. How a man or woman choose to live doesn't effect me at all. I try to keep and open mind and except everyone for who they are. You get my respect right off the rip and its up to you if you choose to lose it.

I think as a hole America has gotten to be overly sensitive in a lot of ways. But at the same time I can't really fault most people for being like that. Its the effect of so many people spewing hatred toward things they don't understand. You see it everyday in the real world and on these very forums.
