So many emotions. I was a couple of years too young to remember. I get emotional on the anniversary because of what happened, and I don't even know a victim.

Re: Where Were You on September 11th 2001?
I was in 4th Grade. I remember it pretty clearly, because I had stayed in from recess that day (who knows what I did? Probably didn't do my homework or something) and my teacher called me over to his computer, showed me the story on CNN that said that a plane had crashed into one of the towers and that a plane had crashed in a field in PA. Didn't really understand what was going on or anything, and I had kind of thought that it was maybe some kind of joke or something.MLB: Minnesota Twins

4th grade. Crazy day. My father (a still active member of the FDNY) was on vacation and out to breakfast with my uncle. Upon hearing the news, he took off for the Bronx and was no longer on vacation. His best friend was in the North Tower when it came down.GT:jb12780

Re: Where Were You on September 11th 2001?
Like so many others I didn't think much of it when I was first told.
I was in my freshman year of college and had just got out of an econ class and I saw a girl I knew when I was on my way to the cafeteria to get some food.
She asked me if I heard of the plane that flew into a building.
She didn't expand on that, I didn't think much of it at first, she didn't expand on the damage or anything so I was thinking it was maybe just a small plane and I had no concept of the magnitude.
Man that changed quickly. I went to school in NE PA and half of our students were from the NY/NJ/Connecticut area and many had family members that were nearby.
Classes were canceled for a couple of days if I recall correctly. Just an excruciating time seeing people worry about their families like that. I am an empathetic person but I have never and don't expect to again feel so much empathy for those in that situation.Comment

Re: Where Were You on September 11th 2001?
8th grade, had a class in the library, maybe the only room in the school that had a tv hooked up. Walked in, some teachers are gathered around a TV watching because a plane had hit one of the towers. We were getting ready to have our regular class, as people thought it was an accident, and then we see the 2nd tower get hit, and then hear the Pentagon got hit. At one point our teacher takes us away from the TV to talk, basically just says nobody knows whats happening, but its serious. Then we went back and watched for the rest of class. Literally like a minute after the 2nd tower collapses class ends. The rest of my classes were just like a normal day, it maybe got brought up quickly, but I think the teachers were told just to keep things normal. A ton of kid's parents called them out of school early. I didn't watch or hear anything else until the afternoon when I got home from school.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Where Were You on September 11th 2001?
I remember being at school when it happened(I was in like grade 2 or 3 or something like that) and then when I went home during lunch I saw it on the news. Was crazy to watch that and everything.
I actually thought people were calling it 9/11 cause it happened on September 11th at 9:11am.
Then when I went back to school, since most other people never got to go home for lunch, I was telling people about it, and then the PA system at the school went on and the principal was telling everyone what was happening.
People in my class went crazy and people were like "We're next, cause Toronto has a tall landmark, someone will crash a plane into that!"(yes, take in mind this was abunch of like 6-8 year olds)
I knew the shows were taped, but I was still confused as to how "WWF" could have a show taped on Tuesday just hours after this incident(I eventually found out that it was taped live on Thursday)

Re: Where Were You on September 11th 2001?
I lived right across the hudson river in jersey city and was in kindergarten. I just remember teachers panicking because we were literally 2 miles from the World Trade. My mom picked me and my sister up and we drove about 30 miles west and stayed at a motel. My dad worked in NYC so he found a motel closer to the city and we got together with him the next day.
9-11 is my first memory of anything. I remember looking out of the back of my car when on the highway and just seeing a column of black smoke. I could smell it too. Obviously I didn't understand what happened and I couldn't watch the news, so i was clueless. All I knew was that everyone was terrified.
My moms friend actually worked at the wtc. My mom talked to her that morning and kept her on the phone late and she kept saying "i gotta go", but my mom being the overly talkative person she is kept talking She missed her train so she took one 15 minutes later. When she came out of the subway station she saw the first plane hit the tower. Pretty insane.Comment

I remember watching that, that was when I was heavily into wrestling. Triple H, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, The Undertaker, etc.. dominated my tv. And that was really a special night. Incredible find. I was so proud to be an American that night. Brett Mcmahon killed it, "No chance that's what you got terrorists"Comment

First I heard about it I was in between classes in my senior year of HS, like many others I thought it was just a small plane that hit like a Cessna(like when a plane hitting the Empire State Building). My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Where Were You on September 11th 2001?
I was on a fourth grade field trip to the old Rolla courthouse and jail. We were watching it on TV before we left.
I learned a lot about the history of Rolla on that field trip and didn't really notice what was going on in NY because it didn't effect me. I understood that thousands died and this would probably cause a war, but none of the repercussions effected me.
My dad had already retired from the military, I wasn't going anywhere that required a flight anytime soon, and lived in a small town a hundred miles from St. Louis. We weren't going to be attacked, I had nothing to worry about.Comment

English class - senior year of high school
Didn't have TV's in many classrooms at that point, so while some friends had seen some footage during the day, I really didn't see anything until mid-afternoon.
Some of these replies about people being in kindergarten or anything from first-fifth grade really make me feel old. Not trying to be jokey, just hit me that some really don't have a memory of a pre-9/11 world.Comment

I do...I have lots. Probably just cause I'm Canadian,so stuff like 9/11 doesn't really impact Canadians nearly as much as it would impact Americans.Comment
