          They are all connected.
Geographical boundaries separate them. The Gulf of Mexico is not separated from the Atlantic Ocean.

The image below shows the boundaries of the Atlantic Ocean. Note, that both the Gulf of Mexico and Mediterranean Sea are included.

The Mediterranean is actually the remnant of an ancient seaway known as the Tethys Ocean.

We need a go-to scientist .gif or something when Burgh comes into a thread with something like this. Anyone have a good picture of Beakman?

LOL. That's some knowledge for ya.

Well I guess since earth has five oceans, the Gulf would be considered to be part of a major one, thus the Atlantic. Makes sense.

                            Part of the Atlantic.
I know because I asked my co-worker Louie.
                            He knows everything.
Hence why we refer to him as Loukepedia.
We call him at 2:00 AM for answers when we are arguing in the firehouse(and he's not working)
                            He hates us.

Every year there are some people that come down here to the Gulf and the first thing they say is "Wow the ocean is so beautiful". We just laugh at them and say they must have some good eyes to see the ocean from here all we can see is the Gulf. So no we do not consider it part of the Atlantic Ocean.

Well, to be fair, a lot of the folks down there probably don't consider the South to be a part of the USA.
