well, its one of those times that I must accept defeat. I voted that its not part of the Atlantic, but after scouring the net, trying to be the hero with that one obscure piece of info that proves everyone wrong, I must say that the gulf of mexico is part of the Atlantic Ocean. At least everything Ive read indicates that to be the truth, along with the firehouse guy that knows everything! lol

Technically it is connected to the Atlantic and that is where it gets its water, but really is like a completely different region with everything being done the Gulf way, not the Atlantic Way.

Region has nothing to do with it. I can say Florida is a completely different region then Maine, or France is a completely different region then Virginia, still borders the same Atlantic Ocean.

The geographical answer is that it's part of the Atlantic.

The real answer is that it's not part of the Atlantic...

Unfortunately, because it is not landlocked it must be part of an ocean. #TeamAtlantic

You got me with this one... My only thing to try and save myself is to say that Asia is a completely different region than Europe, yet both are connected, but are considered different continents.

See how much I had to stretch it?

Well west of the Mississippi is not connected to the right. True story!

If we want to get real technical, everything is connected below all bodies of water on this giant rock!

You can cross land north of the Mississippi in Northern Minnesota.
