People who pronounce Target "Targé". It's not French, and saying it that way doesn't make what you bought any better.

"To die for" is played out...

        Example:

When my 71 year old aunt refers to the chicken salad sandwich at her local Cracker Barrel in central Florida that way, well, it's all oh-vah...

I don't think any particular phrase or word-pairings annoy me. Obviously anything used in abundance will get old; however, what really annoys me are some people's accents and the way they talk. Freshman college girls are probably the most annoying. Those high-pitched, mickey mouse voices combined with a valley girl dialog and then the laughing. *Shudders*

Huh... that's a near perfect description of the possibly crazy, possibly evil Bengals fan chick I've mentioned a few times in OT and her friends in my Speech class last year...

We have one hell of an irritable bunch on OS.

Nothing irks me that much, but I don't follow anything pop culture-related, spend much time on the Interwebz or hang out with idiots in real life so I guess I rarely hear most of this stuff.

That actually an offshoot of a joke from decades ago:

                      "Is that a new suit?"

Well, you have to keep in mind that the best comedy years ago was puns, play-on-words, etc. It is/was seen as heady and intelligent comedy vs. some of the inane crap you see today (not to say there aren't good comedians today).

Ok..my next entry w/ a sports theme (while watching a golf match):

"Ohhhh.....that was a good golf shot...."

                                What's next?

                                "Great basketball pass!"
"Now, THAT was a good bowling strike!"
"He played tremendous football defense there!"
"Did you see the swimming strokes he was taking??!!"
