    "Gotcha moment" / "Gotcha journalism"

Never an acceptable rationalization for being caught exposing incorrect facts / usage / grammar / or just plain makin' words up...

Started in the political realm, have heard it misappropriated a number of different ways...

Which coincidentally, creates a version of the increasingly prevalent "double helix" of stupidity...

Since someone brought up pronunciations, I can't stand when people pronounce jaguar "jag-wire". There is nothing in the word that would make that sound.

When people say "good teams play through injuries". I'm pretty sure if Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings, Clay Matthews, and Charles Woodson all got hurt, the Packers wouldn't just "play through" and be fine just because they're a good team.

Goes along with "good teams find a way to win". No....sometimes they lose.

Also things like "the better team always wins in a series". No. That is simply not true either. The 2007 Warriors weren't better than the 2007 Mavericks. Sometimes an upset is just that---an upset.

Also when people say "bad calls even out". it doesn't matter if bad calls "even out" numbers-wise. It's the context of a bad call. Situations and momentum.

People saying "Tight" to describe when they're mad, upset.

I want to punch windows out every time I hear it being used in that context.

                            -Referring to cigarettes as "heaters"

-Calling soda anything other than soda...it's freaking soda.

-People who pronounce Nike "nyke"...it's "ny-kee" for the love of god.

-People who put "the" in front of roller coaster names. Ex. "I went to Busch Gardens and rode The Montu". Proper noun = no need for "the" in front of it.

-Not a phrase or term, but when people either unnecessarily capitalize things or abuse commas/parentheses/asterisks. Makes things jumbled and harder to read IMO.

-People who use big words in a desperate attempt to sound smart. My one friend, who's one of the dumbest people I've ever met, does this all the time. It's like...bro, just talk normal. You're not fooling anybody.

-LOL's in team names/athletes that don't make sense. Miami LOLphins is fine, Nick MarLOLkis is not.
