    Energy in the Morning

I try to wake up at 5am every morning so that I can work out at 5:15 but I am always half-asleep since I'm not a morning person. What tips/nutrition would you guys recommend that could be done either the day before (everyday pretty much) or in the morning to give me added energy that early in the morning. I am a teenager so I'd prefer not to use 5 hour energy or Monster type drinks, etc.

I assure you, morning person or not, waking up at 5AM blows. Being tired at 5AM is all mental, Your mind wants you to go back to sleep. I wake up at 530 every morning and the best way to get going is to just get into what you are doing.

What time are you going to sleep? Doctors say a teenager is supposed to get at least 9 hours of sleep. If you are going to bed at midnight then getting up at 5 though, that is your problem.

Definitely stay away from 5 hour energies and monsters. Those are so incredibly bad for you it's not funny. Adding the stress of a workout doesn't help either. If you have the will power cut out all soda type drinks and you will find you have a lot more energy while working out.

There are drinks like No Xplode you could try. My laptop is going dead. I'll look into some other healthier drinks for you to try tomorrow.

When I work days I have to get up at 4 to get to work on time. Like you Im not a morning person I have learned that eating breakfast really helps. Im not talking like yogurt or something like that. Like a decent breakfast. It gives me the energy till lunch. The problem I have with the most is after lunch when I crash.

I do not drink any soda or sugar filled drinks (only pure juices such as Orange Juice). On average I go to bed around ten it really depends on the amount of homework I have to do.

I have a hard enough time getting up at 7:30ish for my 8am class, haven't been in weeks. All comes back to when u go to sleep as most of the time I can't fall asleep till 2-3 am.

I'm there right now after spending 5 years at university going to bed at all hours. Now I have to get up at 6 most days and I'm still struggling after a few months. It feels like there is no time left during the day for fun stuff. I get home from work around 6 or 7pm, eat, exercise and spend time with the wife. Then it's time to get some sleep so I'm not a zombie! I can finally afford all the games I want and have no time at all to play them.

There's no such thing as the sun going down in Alaska in the summer.

I hate waking up at 7 (always hit the snooze button and wake up after 8). I can't imagine waking up at 5 or before that. That just sounds like torture.

I find myself, some mornings, with no energy.

I set one of my alarms for 6:30, and the other for 6:40. Usually, I'll put the 2nd one again for 6:50. I'll get up at 6:50. I have to be at work at 9, but with the commute into the city, I'm on the bus at about 7:30-7:40.

Today, I forgot to reset my alarm and woke up 7:20. -__- I hurried out and got on the bus at 7:50. Somehow made it on time.

However, traffic is unpredictable and I love to have some leeway.

I do that all the time, roll over click the sleep another 5 minutes button, wake up an hour later.

As far as having energy, it's all in your head, just got to get going. I get up at 5:45am pretty much every morning and I always feel like a zombie, but after I take a nice hot shower I could run a mile. Maybe just turn the water to hot as possible and hop in for a few seconds, should get that blood pumping enough to work out for a little while.

I also have a office job, so on top of that, I sit down for most of the day. I may need to find a way to account for that.

Same thing I do. I set my radio for a certain time. It fades in and it's low volume. Then 10 minutes later the alarm on my phone is blaring.

it took me almost a full year to adjust to getting up @ 530 to work out mind you that I had a newborn baby getting up at midnight and 3 am so my schedule was a complete mess. Now I have a job where 2 days a week I am off at 1 or 2 am and the other 2 I have to be at work @ 6 am that has made it rough to work out on a normal schedule. Just stick with it and you should be on schedule soon enough.

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.
