Re: Off Topic 2012
I so hate eating thanksgiving with my wife's bloodline. The reasons why.
1. They can't cook. Only seasoning they use is salt. Salt is the cure all for all foods to them, just throw salt on it.
2. Only meat they ever have is turkey. That is weird for me because growing up we had turkey and ham. So I got use to having ham as well. They don't care for ham.
3. They don't eat candy yams.
4. Don't eat greens.
5. Don't eat wild rice.
6. Don't eat potato salad.
7. They don't like cake of any kind, plus they probably wouldn't know how to cook it anyway.
8. Don't eat corn bread.
So what do they have for side dishes ? Mashed potatoes.....which my sister in law husband only likes instant powder potatoes. Then they have 4 different kinds of squash, 2 kinds of rutabaga and corn. It grinds my gears every time I go there because I swear they eat squash every week year round along with mashed potatoes. So come thanksgiving I be so tired of eating it.
And what really grind my gears is the fact they cook dinner rolls in the microwave......but they are surprised I don't ever eat it. I was thinking bitches dinner rolls suppose to be cooked in the oven and you suppose to put butter on top of them for they can have that crispy brown tops. Rolls don't suppose be the same color as you bought the damn thing. Only dessert they ever have is apple pie.....with no sugar in it, so it tastes rather bland.
One of these years I'm going to drug my wife, throw her in the trunk and just drive back to the midwest for she can see what real cooking is and what it suppose to taste like.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
Spent Thanksgiving on my Mom's side of the family this year which consists of rice, chicken, turkey, macaroni. Nothing spectacular.
But when Im on my father's side, soul food galore. Both families are full Haitian but my dad's wife's family encorperate more soul food from the south. Considering that they are from Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and The Carolinas that makes sense. Mom's family is NY, Mass, and NJ, some Penn. Totally different food cultures.Comment

Can't decide if I want to go to Best Buy or not. I really want the free RAZR Maxx upgrade and I don't feel like waiting 3 days for it to get here, but I'm afraid I'll get there and they'll be sold out. I should probably make up my mind soon. Meh.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
Damn, GMSS.. what does her bloodline actually eat ?
My mom's side of the family can ball out on some food, but my dad's side isn't that good, really.. the difference is like night and day. I pretend to like it all, though.
I love it, because most of the vegetables were grown by my grandmother in her garden.
Chicken Dressing (with gravy), Mac n Cheese, green beans, turnip greens, cornbread, rolls, corn on the cob, cream corn, yams, potato salad, ham, turkey, baked chicken, fried taters, some sort of rice and cheese dish, cranberry sauce, hamburger pie, some weird bacon and potato dish my aunt made.. that's just what I had on my plate.
Then the peanut butter cake, chocolate cake, pecan pie, banana pudding, pineapple pudding, cookies, oreo balls, red velvet cake, pineapple upside down cake, and oreo balls.
My mom's side of the family doesn't hold back for Thanksgiving.Comment
